Things to know about No. 15 national seed FSU softball, NCAA Softball Tournament

Florida State is the No. 15 national seed in the NCAA softball tournament. For the 10th consecutive year, FSU will host its regional.

The Seminoles (43-14) will play Chattanooga (42-14) on May 17 at 4:30 p.m. The winner of the double-elimination regional advances to the best-of-three Super Regional round.

The Mocs are one of the 32 automatic bids that won its 16th Southern Conference title. Their 42 wins rank them ninth in program history.

The winner will face the winner of the UCF-Auburn matchup. Auburn played the Mocs earlier in the season and won 12-1 in a run-rule game.

Auburn (27-9-1) will be making its first appearance in Tallahassee since 2021. The Tigers played in the Tallahassee Region four times in school history. Auburn lost to Georgia in the SEC Tournament.

UCF (30-23) will make its fourth straight tournament appearance, which is a first in program history. It is also the Golden Knights' first tournament as a Big 12 team.

The Women's College World Series is set for May 30 in Oklahoma City.

Unfortunately, FSU softball is that it won't host the Super Regional. However, the Seminoles could likely get a Women's College World Series rematch.

FSU was paired up with No. 2 seed Oklahoma in the brackets. If both teams win their region, the Seminoles will have to travel to Norman with the chance of facing the three-time champion. The Seminoles were swept Oklahoma in last year's WCWS.

More SEC teams host regionals

Of all the 16 regions, half are in SEC country. Four of those eight teams could be Super Regional if victorious. Tennessee is the highest in the conference as the third seed. FSU's in-state rival, Florida, carries the fourth seed. Other SEC teams hosting its regional include No. 7 Missouri, No. 9 LSU, No. 11 Georgia, No. 12 Arkansas, No. 14 Alabama and No. 16 Texas A&M.

Florida State and No. 10 Duke are the only two ACC teams that get to host its regional. The Blue Devils defeated the Seminoles in the ACC Championship.
