The Rush: NASCAR takes down the Confederate flag

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE to see today’s piping-hot, fresh-outta-the-oven episode of THE RUSH with Jared Quay! We’ll let you know everything you didn’t know you needed to know about sports. Other stuff too. But mostly sports.

It’s Thursday, June 11, 2020 and here’s what Jared’s cooking up:

  • NASCAR banned the Confederate flag from all events and properties, two days after driver Bubba Wallace called for it to be removed. Wallace finished last night’s 500 laps in Martinsville in 11th place, in the #43 Black Lives Matter car.

  • The Players Coalition submitted a letter to Congress to make it easier to hold police officers and government officials accountable for their actions. It was signed by 1,400 athletes, coaches, and executives from the NFL, NBA, and MLB, including Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Gregg Popovich.

  • Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe participated in the “Share the Mic Now” campaign on Instagram to “center black voices” in discussions about race, equality and justice.

  • The NBA and NBPA are reportedly finalizing terms on a return-to-play plan, but several players have several concerns with the plan to play in the Orlando bubble.

THE RUSH will be back tomorrow. Until then, stay safe and check out previous episodes here.
