Texas volleyball coach Jerritt Elliott inducted into USA Volleyball's Hall of Fame

Texas volleyball coach Jerritt Elliott joined USA Volleyball’s Hall of Fame at the organization’s annual banquet and awards ceremony Wednesday evening in Dallas.

Elliott received USA Volleyball’s All-Time Great Coach Award, which recognizes individuals for success and excellence in volleyball coaching over an extended period. Elliott, a California native who has led the Texas program since 2001, has coached several successful National Team Development Program age-group teams for USA Volleyball while leading the Longhorns to two NCAA championships and multiple Big 12 titles.

Since he arrived in Austin after two seasons as USC’s head coach, Elliott has led the Longhorns to the NCAA Tournament in all but one year, six Final Fours and two national championships. Texas won titles in 2012 and last season, when the program went 28-1, claimed a sixth consecutive Big 12 title and beat Louisville for the national championship.

Elliott has been named the Big 12’s coach of the year nine times.

Texas will begin defense of its national title Aug. 25 against Loyola Marymount in Long Beach, Calif.
