Texas Tech soccer draws with New Mexico in opener

The Texas Tech women's soccer team battled to a draw against New Mexico on Thursday night in Albuquerque.

The Red Raiders (0-0-1) got on the board with a 77th-minute goal from Sam Courtwright, who took the feed from redshirt freshman Taylor Zdrojewski. New Mexico squared the contest 10 minutes later on a goal from Ellie Robinson.

The Lobos only had one shot on goal in the match, which found the net, while Tech had nine out of 15 total shots. Gisselle Kozarski and Sam Courtwright each had four shots for Tech.

Tech is slated to host New Mexico State at 7 p.m. Sunday at John Walker Soccer Complex for the team's home opener. It will be the first of five straight matches in Lubbock for the Red Raiders.
