Texas A&M Basketball remains steady in newest NET Rankings
Texas A&M (17-13, 8-9 SEC) is finally back in contention for an NCAA Tournament bid amid a two-game winning streak after recently defeating Mississippi State 75-69 on Wednesday night.
Finally, after ending a miserable five-game losing streak last Saturday against the Georiga Bulldogs, the Aggies have returned to their defensive identity, forcing turnovers while capitalizing on transition scoring opportunities to avoid stagnant possessions at the top of the key.
Amid Wade Taylor IV’s offensive struggles, veteran guard Tyrece Radford has once again stepped up, scoring 34 points in the last two games. However, it’s been the consistent play of junior guard Manny Obaseki and sophomore forward Solomon Washington, as both combined for 32 points in Wednesday’s victory.
So, where do the Aggies sit in the Tournament conversation? According to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, A&M is still on the outside looking in, but in the newest NET rankings, the Aggies are in a good position at No. 49 with six Quad 1 wins and a 10-9 Quad 1 and Quad 2 cumulative record.
If the Aggies can pull out a road win against the Rebels on Saturday, a win or two in the SEC Tournament should solidify a spot in the Big Dance.
