Texans draft Clemson DE Myles Murphy in latest CBS Sports 3-round mock

One of the areas that could use some premier talent is defensive end, and it would fit the profile of what type of defense DeMeco Ryans was coordinating with the San Francisco 49ers for the past two seasons.

Ryans had Nick Bosa coming off the edge in San Francisco. As the 38-year-old deploys his system in Houston, it would be helpful to have similarly imposing presence off the edge for the next four seasons.

According to Josh Edwards from CBS Sports, the Texans get that type of player in Clemson defensive end Myles Murphy. After taking Alabama quarterback Bryce Young No. 2 overall in Round 1 of the 2023 NFL draft, Houston uses their No. 12 overall pick to grab Murphy.

The Myles Murphy campaign is losing a bit of steam, but he has great size and speed. It is difficult to overlook his potential, and that is why Houston adds him to its defensive front.

The rest of the three-round mock has the Texans addressing receiver, cornerback, and defensive tackle.

In Round 2 at No. 33 overall, Houston gets Boston College wideout Zay Flowers. Adding the 5-10, 177-pound receiver would give Young an assortment of weapons along with tight end Dalton Schultz and receivers Nico Collins and Robert Woods.

In the third round, Houston takes Alabama cornerback Eli Ricks at No. 65 overall and then follows up with Florida defensive tackle Gervon Dexter at No. 73 overall.
