COLDWATER, MI. - The Coldwater Cardinal girls tennis team traveled to Mason Wednesday night for the MHSAA Division Two Regional competition. Coldwater finished in sixth place out of ten teams with 10 total points.

Three individual members and one doubles team from the Cardinal tennis squad advanced to the semifinals of their respective flights before seeing their season come to a tough end.

At number two singles it was Jillian Hawver falling in the flight semifinals to Courtney Novak of DeWitt by scores of 6-2 and 6-4. To advance to the semifinals Hawver defeated Hollis Rumler of Northwest in her opening match by scores of 7-6 and 6-2.

At number three singles it was Josephine Neumann falling in the semifinals to Lakeview’s Caitlyn Miller by scores of 6-1 and 6-3. To advance to the semifinals, Neumann beat Battle Creek Central’s Paige Fox 6-3 and 6-0.

At number four singles it was Janet Rucker dropping an absolute heartbreaker in the semifinals, falling to Lakeview’s Emmy Ruger by scores of 7-6 and 7-5. Rucker advanced to the semifinals by defeating Ava Hicks of Mason by scores of 6-2 and 6-2.

At number one doubles, Claire Hawver and Eliza Douglas fell in the flight semifinals after winning their opener to advance.

Results for Coldwater’s other flights are as follows:

Number One singles: Emma Madden dropped a slugfest to Hailey Rowley of Northwest by scores of 6-3, 2-6 and 6-4 in round two.

Number Two doubles: the team of Luci Cunningham and Dakota Allen fell in the second round

Number Three doubles: the team of Mallory Morick and Alexis Wood fell in the second round

Number Four doubles: the team of Maddie Grife and Sofia Gomez won their first round matchup but fell in round two of the tournament.

Coldwater tennis will take to the courts one final time as they will travel to Parma Western for the Interstate 8 Conference Tournament on Monday.

Bronson tennis finishes fifth at Regionals, team of Francom and Brackett falls in championship match at No. 1 doubles 

JACKSON, MI. - The Bronson Lady Viking tennis team finished in fifth place out of eight teams at the Division Four MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) Regional Tournament hosted by Jackson Lumen Christi on Wednesday night. Bronson finished with a score of four points.

Pacing the Bronson effort was the number one doubles team of Hailey Francom and Aleah Brackett who fell in the championship finals to the team of Lily Melnick and Lauren Craft of Lumen Christi. The duo won their first two matches of the day before falling in the finals.

Results for Bronson’s other seven flights are as follows:

Number one singles: Kayden Alli won her first round match over Leslie’s Malia Tello by scores of 6-0 and 6-1 before falling in round two to Galesburg Augusta’s Jordan West by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.

Number two singles: Cheyanne Villisan won her first round match over Addison Hoffman of Hillsdale by scores of 7-5 and 6-1 before falling in round two to Michaela Hauer of Lumen Christi by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

Number three singles: Aubree Wyant fell in round one to Lumen Christi’s Genevieve Brawner by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.

Number four singles: Nuranzun Dawuadorj won her round one match over Sophia Kaiser of Leslie by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 before falling in round two to Brooklyn Columbia Central’s Ashley Yang by scores of 7-6 and 6-0.

Number two doubles: the team of Lorelei Sisco and Ella Ramsey dropped their first round match

Number three doubles: the team of Ines Boedo and Kailee Meyers lost in round one

Number four doubles: the team of Samantha Francom and Leung Jung lost in round one
