Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis not expected to play vs. Minnesota Vikings

EAGAN, Minn. — Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis will not play in the team's preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday and second-year passer Malik Willis is expected to play the entire game, per an announcement from the Titans' radio network.

Levis left the Titans' joint practice with the Vikings before it ended on Thursday and, after practice, Titans coach Mike Vrabel said the team would be in wait-and-see mode with Levis' availability for Saturday.

Beyond Levis and Willis, the only other quarterback the Titans have on roster in veteran Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill did not take the field for the Titans' first preseason game, nor did he participate in any of the Titans' three preseason games in 2022.

Levis and Wills split snaps for the Titans in their first preseason opener, switching out every other drive. Levis finished the day 9-for-14 passing with 85 yards and an interception. He also rushed once for six yards. He was under near-constant pressure that day, as he was sacked four times and forced to evade rushers by scrambling or throwing on the move on multiple other occasions.

The Titans drafted Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, trading up to get him. Leading up to the draft, Levis was considered a potential top-10 pick, but he slid into the second round after three other quarterbacks were selected in the first four picks. He's the second quarterback the Titans have picked on Day 2 of the NFL draft in consecutive years, after taking Willis in the third round in 2022.

Saturday's game against the Vikings is scheduled for 7 p.m. It's the second of three preseason games the Titans play. The final game will be against the New England Patriots next Friday in Nashville.
