Tennessee Titans kicker Nick Folk misses first field goal of the season vs. Tampa Bay Bucs

The Tennessee Titans found a very good kicker late in the preseason.

But Titans kicker Nick Folk won’t be perfect this season.

He had a good try at it, going 19-for-19 in the first eight games before missing one Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Folk, who has been in the league since 2007, when he was picked by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the NFL draft, missed a 51-yard field goal attempt short and wide right in the second quarter at Raymond James Stadium.

He had made a 38-yarder midway through the first quarter.

Folk is 13 of 13 on extra point attempts this season.

WHAT TO KNOW: What to know about Tennessee Titans kicker Nick Folk

Folk, 39, has had a late-career renaissance. He had three consecutive seasons making at least 86% of his field goal tries going into 2023. That he was still available via trade from the New England Patriots in late August was fortunate for the Titans.

The University of Arizona alum still holds the NFL record for most consecutive field goals made from under 40 yards, an active streak that he added on to Sunday.
