Tennessee basketball predictions for March Madness? A Sweet 16 upset, Seth Davis says

Minutes after the Tennessee men's basketball team's NCAA tournament destination was revealed, CBS basketball analyst Seth Davis predicted the Vols falling victim in an upset in the Sweet 16.

Davis said he believes No. 3 seed Creighton could eliminate the Vols in the Midwest Region semifinal.

"They play at a slower tempo," Davis said. "I think they can get by Tennessee in the Sweet 16."

The Vols (24-8) are the 2-seed in the Midwest and will face Saint Peter's in the opening round on Thursday in Charlotte, North Carolina. Texas could be a potential matchup in the second round for the Vols. UT coach Rick Barnes coached at Texas for 16 seasons.

This is Creighton's fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament. The Bluejays have made two Sweet 16 appearances in its past three trips to the tournament, including an Elite Eight appearance in 2023.

It's also the sixth straight trip to the tournament for the Vols, excluding the 2020 tournament, which was canceled because of COVID. They lost in the first round in 2021 and the second round the following year. Barnes led the Vols to the Sweet 16 last year, as a 4-seed, losing to Florida Atlantic.
