TCU RB Sewo Olonilua, Cheez-It Bowl MVP, arrested on drug charges
TCU running back Sewo Olonilua is facing felony drug charges.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Olonilua was arrested on Tuesday in Huntsville, Texas, and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police records indicate that Olonilua had between one and four grams of the substance. Both charges are third-degree felonies.
In a statement, TCU said it was aware of Olonilua’s arrest and is “looking into it.”
Olonilua ended up leading TCU in rushing last fall, finishing the season with 635 yards on 135 carries. He capped off his junior campaign with 194 rushing yards in the inaugural Cheez-It Bowl, a 10-7 overtime victory over Cal. The performance earned him MVP honors.
For his career, Olonilua has 1,087 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. He also has 36 catches for 269 yards.
Olonilua and fellow senior Darius Anderson are expected to receive the bulk of the carries for the Horned Frogs in 2019.
