Is Taylor Swift driving up ticket prices for the Packers-Chiefs game at Lambeau? Here's what we know

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love's first NFL start was on Nov. 7, 2021, against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Love filled in for Aaron Rodgers, who was sidelined by COVID. The Packers lost 13-7.

GREEN BAY - Ticket prices for the Packers-Chiefs matchup Dec. 3 are being fueled by star power — and not just because of the Chiefs' Super Bowl-winning quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Widespread speculation about Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce's relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift could also be responsible.

While we don't know yet if Swift is coming to Lambeau Field, the possibility of a celebrity sighting drove ticket prices upwards in New York for the Oct. 1 Chiefs-Jets game, and the same thing could be happening in Green Bay.

The range of cheapest ticket prices is similar to what it was last August; as of last Friday, they started at $130 to $196. Average ticket prices were $166 on Friday as opposed to $161 Aug. 23.

However, these are for single ticket prices. If you'd like to bring a friend, prices for two range from $152 to $295 for each ticket as of Friday.

The growth in ticket prices for the Dec. 3 game over the past six weeks is modest partly because the Chiefs' turn at Lambeau already boasted higher-than-average ticket prices before the season started.

This is for three reasons: the Chiefs won the Super Bowl earlier this year, they are coached by former Packers assistant Andy Reid and they are the only team Jordan Love started against in his first three years in Green Bay.

Even amid Kelce's criticism that the NFL is "overdoing" their coverage of their rumored love story, the Taylor Swift effect on the NFL is real. According to NBC, the Chiefs-Jets matchup boasted the highest audience for a Sunday show since the last Super Bowl with an average of 27 million viewers. An estimated additional two million women and girls tuned in.

The Packers will face off against the Chiefs 7:20 p.m. Dec. 3 at Lambeau Field and on NBC.

For our look at Packers' tickets prices, we average the lowest ticket prices at 11 secondary-market websites: Event USA, Gametime, Green Bay Ticket Service, SeatGeek, StubHub, TicketIQ, Ticket King, Ticketmaster, TickPick, TicketSmarter and Vivid Seats. Note that ticket brokers can add fees on top of the prices listed here, so actual costs might be higher.
