Steelers enter offseason with just over $8 million in dead money

Every NFL team does its best to manipulate the salary cap season by season to keep their top players signed. Unfortunately, there will always be cases when circumstances force teams to eat salary cap money in the form of dead money.

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, they go into the offseason with $8,028,814 in dead money. This ranks them in the middle of the league in terms of dead money. By comparison, the Philadelphia Eagles have $46,488,912 in dead money and on the other end, the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs have only $98,428.

Here is how the dead money breaks down for the Steelers:

DL Stephon Tuitt | $4.755 million

CB Cameron Sutton | $2.1 million

WR Chase Claypool | $593,025

LB Buddy Johnson | $249,672

RB Anthony Johnson Jr. | $180,608
