The stars of the 51st Burlington Invitational track and field meet

The 51st running of the Burlington Invitational, Vermont's premier regular-season track and field meet, took place on Saturday at D.G. Weaver Athletic Complex.

And, as always, the athletes did not disappoint.

Scouring the results on athletic.net, there were meet records, many standout performances and a slew of personal records established. But which ones were the most noticeable? Read on below for a 14 star athletes who shined brightest:

GIRLS STANDOUTS FROM THE BURLINGTON INVITATIONAL

U32's Isabel Moustakas and North Country's Sabine Brueck finish with the exact same time of 15.622 in the 100 meter hurdles at the 51st annual Burlington High School Track and Field Invitational on Saturday.

Tess Adams, Essex High School

The junior remained undefeated this spring in her top throwing events, with winning performances of 38 feet, 7 inches in shot put and 123-7 in discus. She was named the meet's most outstanding girls field athlete.

Sabine Brueck, North Country Union High School

The multi-sport star added to her growing resume with first-place efforts in the 100 hurdles (15.63 seconds) and 300 hurdles (45.62). She tied for the win in the 100 hurdles while establishing a new meet record in the 300s. Brueck, named the meet's Ian Carroll Spirit Award winner, also finished second in long jump (17-2.25) and triple jump (36-7.75).

Brinlee Gilfillan, Colchester High School

The Lakers speedster was named the meet's most outstanding girls athlete after cruising to victories in the 100 (12.38) and 200 (25.57), coming close to both meet records in the process, while also seizing first place in long jump with a PR of 17-6.25.

Lola Ide, St. Johnsbury Academy

The freshman won high jump (5-0.5), placed second in the 200 (27.03) and ran relay legs on SJA's second-place 4x400 and fourth-place 4x100.

Ginger Long, U-32 High School

The junior ran PRs for runner-up finishes in the 1,500 (4:45.98) and (2:22.68) and was on U-32's victorious 4x400 relay squad.

Isabel Moustakas, U-32 High School

The senior tied for first in the 100 hurdles (15.63), placed second in the 100 (12.83) and ran on U-32's winning 4x100 relay squad.

Regina O'Leary, South Burlington High School

The senior bounded to a PR in triple jump (37-0) for top prize, while also placing third in the 100 hurdles (15.71) and was part of South Burlington's third-place 4x400.

BOYS STANDOUTS FROM THE BURLINGTON INVITATIONAL

Raf Campanile, Mount Mansfield Union High School

The junior captured pole vault (14-1.25) and javelin (140-1) in PR performances, with the former resetting the school record. Campanile, who also placed third in long jump (20-8), was named the Pavel Dvorak Spirit Award winner.

Ahmed Diawara, Burlington High School

Named the meet's most outstanding boys track athlete, the junior swept the 100 and 200 dashes with times of 11.21 and 22.41, respectively, the latter with a PR dash. Diawara, the star quarterback for the SeaWolves football team, also ran a leg on Burlington's victorious 4x100 relay and the Seahorses' fourth-place 4x400 squad.

Avery Gilbert, Mount Mansfield Union High School

The junior stormed to an impressive PR for his 110 hurdles victory in 14.69 seconds, placed second in the 300 hurdles (40.36), third in the 200 (22.78) and ran a leg on MMU's third-place 4x400 relay squad.

Emmett Johnson, St. Johnsbury Academy

The junior set a PR in winning the 800 (1:57.47) and took third in the 1,500 (4:03.97) for back-to-back PRs. And he also ran a leg on SJA's meet-record 4x400 relay squad (3:26.47) with teammates Oliver Johnson, Daniel Carter and Andrew Thornton-Sherman.

Avery Rogers, Champlain Valley Union High School

The junior captured long jump (21-10.25) and triple jump (40-0.25), the latter in a PR performance. Rogers also took third in the 100 (11.36) with another PR effort.

Winslow Sightler, Burlington High School

The senior reset his BHS Invitational record in shot put (60-4.75) and captured discus (169-4.25) for a double win to be named the meet's most outstanding boys field athlete.

Andrew Thornton-Sherman, St. Johnsbury Academy

The state's 800 record-holder raced to first place in the 300 hurdles with a PR of 38.74 and ran on the Hilltoppers' meet-record 4x400 relay squad (3:26.47). Thornton-Sherman also took seventh in the 200 with a PR of 23.39.

COMBINED TEAM SCORES FROM THE BURLINGTON INVITATIONAL

The Burlington Invitational combines boys and girls events for team scoring. The top 10 out of 28 schools were:

1. Essex 178; 2. St. Johnsbury 174.5; 3. Champlain Valley 143; 4. Burlington 129; 5. U-32 123; 6. Mount Mansfield 109.5; 7. South Burlington 94.5; 8. Colchester 53; T9. Peoples, North Country.
