Spring forward: Top Greater Taunton H.S. sports performers for March 28-30

The spring high school sports season is officially underway in the Greater Taunton area.

While most teams don't start their regular seasons until next week, a few local squads got in their opening matchups.

Here's a look at the all of the action from the first couple days of the spring sports season:

Saturday

Girls Lacrosse

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (0-1) with five goals while Emily Long, Grace LaRose and Claire Fitzsimmons also found the back of the net and Ashley McLaren recorded an assist as the Trojans fell 9-8 to Whitman-Hanson at home in non-league action.

Thursday

Boys Volleyball

Daniel Freitas led the way for Taunton (0-1) with 11 digs, six assists, two aces and two kills while Ikechukwu Asiegbunam had 15 attacks, four kills and a dig as the Tigers fell 3-0 (10-25, 15-25 and 13-25) to Milford on the road.

Ian Hoskins led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (1-0, 1-0 Tri-Valley League) with 25 kills while Yasiel Rodriguez had 29 assists, Connar Dexter had eight blocks and eight kills and Sam Courcy had 18 digs as the Falcons beat King Philip 3-2 (25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 16-25 and 15-10) on the road in TVL action.
