Sports scores, highlights: Diman softball wins wild game against Bishop Connolly

The spring high school season is in its final stages of the regular season for Fall River area teams.

Here's a look at scores and highlights from Tuesday's action:

Softball: Diman 16, Bishop Connolly 12

RECORD: Diman, 8-9 (4-4 in Mayflower Large)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengals won a wild game against neighboring Bishop Connolly at home. Hannah Martin led the way for Diman by going 2-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base, two putouts and four assists. Alexah Pedder went 3- for-5 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI. Natalie Raposa (two RBI) and Courtney Boies (RBI) each had a pair of hits including a double. Kayla Cabral had a hit, a walk and an RBI. Kacie Lynch finished with two hits and a stolen base. Hannah King (double), Nya Martinez and Alyvia Moniz each contributed a hit. Ashley Carvalho struck out five batters.

NEXT UP: The Bengals host Fairhaven on Wednesday.

Softball: Nolfolk Aggie 13, Westport 6

LOCATION: Norfolk Aggie

DATE: May 23

RECORD: Westport, 8-9 (7-1 in Mayflower Comprehensive)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats dropped a road game against Norfolk Aggie. Tess Silvia was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Westport. Braylin Montigny had two hits, including a double and two RBI. Jayda Pequita went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

NEXT UP: The Wildcats travel to Bristol-Aggie on Wednesday.

Baseball: Westport 8, Diman 0

LOCATION: Westport

DATE: May 23

RECORD: Diman, 13-4 (8-0 in MAC Comprehensive); Diman 11-7

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats blanked Diman at home. Max Morotti (5-2) pitched a complete-game shutout for Westport. He scattered three hits, walked four, and struck out 11. Noah Sowle was 2-for-3 with a triple, run scored, and two RBI. Cameron Leary reached base twice, stole rwo bases, and scored two runs. Michael DeGagne, Will Souza, and Max Gallant each had RBI singles.

NEXT UP: The Wildcats face Atlantis Charter on Thursday while the Bengals host Seekonk on Thursday.

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltoppers were blanked by Bishop Stang on the road. Alexis Montilla and Ben Sherry had the lone hits for Durfee.

NEXT UP: The Hilltoppers face Barnstable in Taunton on Wednesday.

Baseball: West Bridgewater 13, Bishop Connolly 4

LOCATION: West Bridgewater

RECORD: Bishop Connolly, 11-6 (3-5 in Mayflower Comprehensive)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cougars fell behind early and dropped their game against West Bridgewater on the road. Jaydyn Pavao took the loss for Connolly. Avery Dinham went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead the Cougars in hits.

NEXT UP: Connolly face Rising Tide on Friday.

Baseball: Dighton-Rehoboth 3, Case 0

LOCATION: Joseph Case

RECORD: Case, 7-12 (3-10 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals were blanked by league opponent Dighton-Rehoboth at home. Jackson McLane was the tough luck losing pitcher for Case on the mound, throwing a complete game two-hitter. He allowed no earned runs while striking out 10 batters. Adam Gracie, Jacob Poitras, Dylan Amaral, Ben Duquette, and Christian Chapman each had a hit.

NEXT UP: The Cardinals travel to Somerset Berkley on Thursday.

Boys Tennis: Somerset Berkley 5, Diman 0

LOCATION: Chapman Courts

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 13-3 (9-3 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders recorded their 11th shutout victory of the season after beating Diman at home. SBR won all three singles matches in straight sets. Joseph Ramos defeated Connor Kennedy, 6-0, 6-1. Zach Costa beat Rafael Infante, 6-1, 6-1. Max Petit won his match over Michael Larivee, 6-0, 6-0. Ian Sullivan and Nate Melo won their match at first doubles over Jacob DeCosta and Juele Soria, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Calvin Perotty and Jasper Troutman rallied to a 1-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory over Aidan Damaso and Andrew Librera in second doubles.

NEXT UP: The Raiders will compete in the MIAA state team tournament next week.

Boys Tennis: Bishop Connolly 3, Durfee 2

LOCATION: Fall River

RECORD: Bishop Connolly, 11-3 (6-0 in Mayflower Comprehensive); Durfee 8-9

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cougars were victorious in the last-ever athletic contest against Durfee in the season finale for both teams. Evan Kidd remained undefeated on the season for Connolly, defeating Will Rumsey, 6-0, 6-1 at first singles. Alex Krynicki played very well at third singles against Colin Fleet, 6-2, 6-1. Brian Ward beat Jack Fitzgerald in a tight match, 6-3, 7-5 at second singles. The Hilltoppers took both doubles as Jesse Tamba and Tim Archambault defeated Logan Reis and Jack Shea at first doubles, 6-2, 6-4. Nick Horseman and Xavier Ignacio played very well, beating Ben Costa and Edras Bond at second doubles, 6-0, 6-0.

NEXT UP: Durfee takes on Westport on Wednesday.

Boys Tennis: Bourne 4, Case 1

LOCATION: Swansea

DATE: May 23

RECORD: Case, 4-13 (3-10 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals dropped their season finale against league opponent Bourne at home. Freshman Owen Borges played a marathon match for Case in a losing cause. He's been the outstanding player on the team this year with eight wins. "[He] someone who's never played tennis before the season started," Cardinals head coach David Rainone said.

NEXT UP: Case awaits the state tournament next week.

Boys Tennis: Somerset Berkley 5, Durfee 0

LOCATION: Fall River

DATE: May 22

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 12-3 (9-3 in South Coast Conference); Durfee, 8-8

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders swept all five matches from Durfee on the road for their 10th shutout of the season on Monday. Joseph Ramos (6-4, 6-4), Zach Costa (6-2, 6-1) and Max Petit (6-1, 6-0) each won their single matches for SBR. Jackson Souza and Matt Carlesi won at first doubles, 6-1, 6-0. Ian Jepson and Ian Sullivan won in straight sets at second doubles against. Xavier Inacio and Chrisoin Sokol, 6-2, 7-5.

Boys Lacrosse: Westport 15, New Bedford 9

LOCATION: New Bedford

DATE: May 23

RECORD: Westport, 6-12

HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats won their season finale against New Bedford. Coltrane McGonigle scored nine goals and had an assist for Westport, bringing him to a total of 100 career points. Avery Viveros scored two goals while Isaiah Poydras scored a goal and had three assists. Matt Costa chipped in with three assists and Tyler Arrial and Will Quinlan both scored a goal and had an assist. Andre Jusseaume had an assist and Matt Borges scored a goal.
