Southern Miss baseball's Auburn Regional schedule, opponent, seed in NCAA Tournament
Southern Miss baseball earned a place in its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament when it won the Sun Belt Conference title on Sunday.
That wasn't enough for the Golden Eagles to get the nod as a host for a second successive year, though. Monday, the NCAA announced that USM will be heading to the Auburn Regional, where it will take on No. 3 seed Samford in the first game of the double-elimination format as the No. 2 seed. No. 1 Auburn will take on No. 4 Penn as the other two teams in the regional.

Southern Miss will be looking to advance to the super regional round for the second year in a row and just the third time in program history. The last time the Golden Eagles won a regional away from Pete Taylor Park was in 2009, when they went to Omaha.
That was in Corky Palmer's final season as coach, and the dominant storyline at the business end of this season is Scott Berry's impending retirement. Having made the decision last fall to retire, Berry made those plans public in early May. He'll be succeeded by pitching coach Christian Ostrander at the end of the season.
