SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Thursday, May 18

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Thursday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Fairhaven 7, Old Rochester 5

The Blue Devils clinched the South Coast Conference championship with the win. Sophia Fleurent led the way with two goals while Kaylei Joseph, Sydney Burke, Sophia Murray, Carlie Francis and Christina Pimentel each had one. “All the defense played great,” said Fairhaven head coach Scott Francis. “Might be our best defensive effort all year.” The Blue Devils (11-4-1, 11-0 SCC) visit Dartmouth on Monday.

Apponequet 15, Bourne 4

Cece Levrault led the way with five goals while Emilia Keane added three goals. Addie Taylor and Abby Bradley had two goals apiece while Celia Hiller, Jayleigh Haworth and Ava Wisniewski all had one goal each. Allison Arruda had eight saves in net. The Lakers (11-5) host New Bedford on Monday.

Bishop Stang 11, Arlington Catholic 10

Sofie Doucet scored a team-high four goals while Teal Galligan, Julia Pelczarski and Sydney Plouffe had two goals and one assist apiece. Ava Jackson added one goal and two assists while Molly Kearney had two assists. Bella Batista had 13 saves. The Spartans (5-9-1, 1-2 CCL) host Seekonk on Tuesday.

BOYS LACROSSE

Dartmouth 14, New Bedford 2

Jackson Hart had three goals and four assists while Lennox Massucco added three goals. Will Gibson chipped in with two goals and one assist while Ryan Falcon had one goal and two assists. Bryce Desirey (goal) and Adrian Acosta (assist) also contributed. JT Charrier, Ray Gramlich, Brady Oliveira and Tristan Almeida each scored their first varsity goals.

Apponequet 19, Bourne 6

The Lakers captured their 11th straight win with six goals and two assists from Kenny Wisniewski. Jake Cusson added four goals and two assists while Will Levrault had three goals and three assists. Kevin O’Connor had two goals and was 17 of 20 on faceoffs. Hunter Owen made seven saves. Apponequet (14-1, 10-1 SCC) visits Dighton-Rehoboth on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

Apponequet 16, Old Rochester 1

Lauren Bernaiche threw a one-hitter with no walks while striking out 14 over six innings. Christina Magnett went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored while Caleigh Venuti was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Morgan Saraceno was 3-for-4 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored. Eva Zuber (2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored) and Marissa Kelly (1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored) also contributed. The Lakers (8-9, 6-5 SCC) host Bourne on Monday.

Dartmouth 18, Durfee 6

Hannah Garcia had five hits in the game to power Dartmouth’s offensive attack of 17 total hits. Dartmouth tallied eight runs in the third inning. Julia Rapoza, Desirae Paiva, Kalisa Pomfret, Aubrey Carberry, Olivia Rapoza and Garcia powered the big inning with RBIs. Megan Arruda got the win as she allowed six runs on four hits while striking out three over six innings. Dartmouth (11-7, 5-3 SEC) visits Fairhaven on Tuesday.

New Bedford 13, Brockton 0

Hayleigh Chenard pitched a two-hitter with no walks while striking out seven. Annabelle Huston had four hits, two RBIs and four runs scored while Belle Almeida had three hits and four RBIs. Sophia Perry and Amelia Davis each had three hits and two RBIs. The Whalers (9-7, 5-3 SEC) host Case on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Bourne 12, Wareham 2

Emily Brundage went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Marina Cadena was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and run scored. Olivia Lacava (2-for-4), Jossalyn Anctil (1-for-4) and Madison Nereu (1-for-3 with stolen base and RBI) also contributed. Nereu pitched six innings, allowing four earned runs with nine strikeouts. The Vikings (1-15, 0-12 SCC) visit GNB Voc-Tech on Monday.

BASEBALL

Bishop Fenwick 3, Bishop Stang 2

Ryan Jones, Taylor Drew, Brock Winslow, Cam Letourneau and Aiden Cardoza each had a hit for Stang. Letourneau suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings. Bishop Stang (11-5, 6-1 in CCL) hosts Durfee on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

Durfee 7, Dartmouth 5

Dartmouth took a 5-4 lead in the sixth only to see Durfee score three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Aiden Smith (2-0) started the game and surrendered four runs on four hits over three innings, striking out four. Louie Freitas (1-1) took the loss for Dartmouth. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out one. Offensively, Dartmouth had seven hits with two coming from Christian Silva. Dartmouth (12-5, 5-3 SEC) hosts Sandwich on Tuesday.

GNB Voc-Tech 6, Old Colony 0

The Bears captured their fifth straight win. Chase Lagoa went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored while Nate Roderiques was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Noah Mello, Kolbey Desroches, Boston Bettencourt, Illiam Santiago, Jordan Perez and Dom Bland each had one hit. Nolan Hoffler got the win, allowing one hit with one strikeout over four innings. Voc-Tech (12-4, 8-3 SCC) visits Dighton-Rehoboth at noon on Saturday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Dartmouth 4, Durfee 1

With the win, Dartmouth finished as co-champs of the Southeast Conference. Leading the way with victories were No. 1 Nayan Bala (6-3, 6-1), No. 2 Annica Dupre (7-5, 2-6, 10-4), the first doubles team of Adeline Ablett and Julia Caron (6-1, 6-2) and the second doubles team of Brontë Massucco and Camille Taradesh (6-1, 6-1). Alex Cojocaru was up 6-0 at third singles but had to forfeit due to an ankle injury. Dartmouth (11-4, 7-1 SEC) visits Apponequet on Monday.

Fairhaven 5, Westport 0

The undefeated Blue Devils got wins from No. 1 Elizabeth DaCunha (6-3, 6-3), No. 2 Sabrian Zheng (6-0, 6-3), No. 3 Min Wu (6-0, 6-2), the first doubles team of Abbey Lopes and Olivia Darmofal (6-1, 6-0) and the second doubles team of Abby Thomas and Kat St. Amand (8-6). Fairhaven (13-0, 10-0 SCC) faces Apponequet on Monday.

Bishop Stang 5, Seekonk 0

The undefeated Spartans got wins from No. 1 Lexy Wynn (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 Katherine Johnson (6-0, 6-1), No. 3 Charlotte Sisson (6-2, 6-1), the first doubles team of Holly Eyre and Lilly Manning (6-1, 6-4) and the second doubles team of Noella Canastra and M.C. Walsh (6-2, 6-1). It was Sisson’s first singles match of the year. Stang (15-0) visits Arlington Catholic on Monday.

Apponequet 5, New Bedford 0

The Lakers got wins from No. 1 Kohana Fontinha (7-5, 7-5), No. 2 Brynn McGaughlin (6-0, 6-0), No. 3 Jillian Maher (6-0, 6-0), the first doubles team of Liz Ashley and Lila Nielsen (6-0, 6-0) and the second doubles team of Hanna Kamara and Amirtha Santosh (6-1, 6-0).

BOYS TENNIS

Apponequet 5, New Bedford 0

The undefeated Lakers got wins from No. 1 Judson Cardinali over Hugo Jacob-Reig (6-3, 6-1), No. 2 Ethan Clark over Jack Harding (6-1, 6-1), No. 3 Jimmy Lenza over Luis Santana (6-1, 6-0), the first doubles team of Nick Connolly and Ryan Abreau over Landon Stewart and Adam Rako-Bunting (6-2, 6-1) and the second doubles team of Nathaniel Kumlin and Eugene Jung over Aaron Legg and Xavier Balanca (6-1, 6-0). The Lakers (15-0, 11-0 SCC) visit Dartmouth on Monday.

Fairhaven 5, Westport 0

The Blue Devils (10-3) swept singles action with wins from No. 1 Kole Pinto (6-0, 6-1), No. 2 Isaac Petruski (6-1, 6-2) and No. 3 Coby Yin (6-1, 6-0). The first doubles team of Chris Hu and Harrison Zheng won 7-6, 6-0 while Alex Hu and Jesse Chen were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 2.

Bishop Stang 3, Seekonk 2

Winning for Stang were No. 2 Trevor Squire (6-4, 6-2), No. 3 Thomas Clavell (6-3, 6-3) and the first doubles team of Chris Lemaire and Liam Gormley (6-4, 4-6, 6-1). The Spartans (10-5, 4-2 CCL) host Fairhaven on Tuesday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

North Quincy 3, GNB Voc-Tech 1

Camden Morin with a career-high 13 kills and two blocks while Curran Farnworth added 10 kills and 17 digs. Serrone Ramos chipped in with six kills and three blocks. Evan Fagundes dished out 18 assists while Jack Gwozdz had 14 assists and 14 digs. Tayshaun Andrade added 10 digs. The Bears finish the regular season with a record of 13-3 and await their playoff seeding.
