Mauricio Pellegrino

"I think we did everything to try to bring this possibility here but we have to accept that. It's part of our job," Pellegrino told reporters when asked about Walcott's move.

"When you are in negotiations they are about two parts and we can do nothing.

"Obviously the money is part of the negotiations but I don't know the reason. We have got in our club is the concern to try and bring a couple of targets... We have got another option and we have to continue with our job."

Mauricio Pochettino

"I'm very pleased," Pochettino said of Toby Alderweireld's efforts to be fit for the latter half of the season.

"We are going to have a very busy period and we need all the squad available to play. If all is well he will do the warm-up (on Saturday) with the team and will be integrated gradually with the group. He will be ready as soon as possible."

What's our prediction?

Jason Burt: Spurs have hit form – 13 points from 15 – with Heung-Min Son even grabbing the headlines from Harry Kane while Southampton badly need a win. Their manager, Mauricio Pellegrino, who us under severe pressure, badly needs a win although quite why they have not bought this window – so far – is inexplicable. They will have to go for it which will make them even more vulnerable.

Prediction: 0-2
