South Carolina women's basketball's Dawn Staley prank called by Dallas Cowboys

COLUMBIA — Since Dawn Staley won her third national title as coach of South Carolina women's basketball in April, she's been everywhere. Staley has attended Philadelphia 76ers games, visited Disney World, was part of a WNBA preseason game and now most recently, she appeared in a Dallas Cowboys video.

Though it didn't seem like Staley was too happy about it.

In honor of the NFL releasing 2024 schedules for each team on Wednesday, the Cowboys made a video that showed different Cowboys fans and team members prank calling their opponents' fans each week on FaceTime.

Staley was called for Week 17, when the Philadelphia Eagles play the Cowboys in Philly.

Staley answered the phone in a 76ers sweatshirt and after a few seconds of looking confused said, "Yuck."

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Staley is a longtime Eagles fans and throughout her time in South Carolina has stayed heavily involved in her hometown team. She's worn Eagles jerseys while coaching the Gamecocks, and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was in Cleveland watching South Carolina win the national championship on April 7.

The Eagles-Cowboys rivalry is one of the most intense rivalries in the NFL. The two teams are in the NFC East which means they are guaranteed to play twice each season. The first meeting in 2024 will be in Dallas in Week 10. Comedian Shane Gillis was the Eagles fan who received the prank call for that game.
