Once on top of the SEC East, South Carolina baseball has fallen into a slump during the past month and faces another major challenge this weekend against No. 3 Arkansas.
The No. 7 Gamecocks (36-12, 14-9 SEC) were swept for the first time this season by No. 16 Kentucky last weekend after dropping their previous SEC series 2-1 against unranked Auburn. They also dropped a midweek matchup with North Florida 8-5 on Tuesday.
South Carolina dropped its first game 4-1 against the Razorbacks (36-12, 17-7) in Fayetteville and will aim to even the series Saturday (7 p.m., SEC Network+). Arkansas has only lost one home game in SEC play this season and is coming off of back-to-back sweeps of Texas A&M and Mississippi State.
