South Bend Cubs to host Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in homestand this week

The South Bend Cubs return from a road trip to Peoria, Ill., to host the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in a six-game homestand in High A minor league baseball at Four Winds Field beginning Tuesday night.

All homestand games take place at Four Winds Field, 501 W. South Street, South Bend. Tickets can be purchased online at SouthBendCubs.com or by calling the Box Office at 574-235-9988. The box office is open during the week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekend game days until the seventh inning.

The Cubs are 13-17 and in fifth place (second to last) in the Midwest League's West Division after going 4-2 against the Peoria Chiefs last week. Wisconsin is 16-14 and in second place in the West Division, two games behind leader Cedar Rapids.

The Cubs will then be on the road for two weeks before returning home to host Cedar Rapids August 22-27.

Kevin Alcántara continues to lead the Cubs with nine home runs, 50 runs scored and 49 RBI whle batting .276. Ezequel Pagan is hitting .319 and Fabian Pertuz had 14 stolen bases. Sheld Reed and Frankie Scalzo Jr. each have six wins on the mound while Conor Noland has a 3.67 ERA. Brandon Birdsell and Cade Horton each had 65 strikeouts.

Tuesday's game (7:05 p.m.) is a Triple Play Tuesday and a post-game fireworks night. Fans can purchase a game ticket, hot dog and 24 ounce fountain drink for $13. Tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance.

Wednesday (7:05) is Christopher Morel Bobblehead giveaway. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Bobblehead of the Chicago Cubs utility player.

Thursday (7:05) is Thirsty Thursday with $2 fountain drinks and domestic draft beer.

Friday (7:05) is Boys Scouts camp night and a post-game fireworks night.

Saturday (7:05) is Spin to Win Saturday when nine fans can spin a wheel for prizes.

Sunday (2:05) is Youth Replica Camo Jersey giveaway. The first 1,000 kids through the gate will receive a South Bend Cubs replica camo jersey. It is also Sunday Funday with a special autograph session with players before the game and an opportunity to play catch on the field before the game.
