Social media reacts to the Oklahoma Sooners 27-13 win over Iowa State

Coming out of the bye, it was important for the Oklahoma Sooners to show improvement from a defense that had struggled through the first four games of conference play.

Though Iowa State’s offense isn’t the best they’ve seen this year, the Sooners made them look like a bad offense throughout the game. They intercepted  Hunter Dekkers three times and got a stop on fourth and one at the goalline to close out the game.

It wasn’t perfect, but the Sooners defense built off of some of the good things they did against Kansas two weeks ago to get Oklahoma on a winning streak.

Offensively, the Sooners played smart football. They were patient through the air and ground away with the running game. They took a few shots and finally broke through with a big play to Jalil Farooq on a busted Iowa State coverage.

It was complimentary football at its finest, especially as the special teams unit accounted for the first 13 points of the game. Zack Schmit was perfect on field goal and extra point attempts, and he and Michael Turk connected for the Sooners’ first touchdown of the game to make it 13-6 in the first half.

This game provided Oklahoma with a little more momentum, and they’re now on a two-game winning streak with four games left in the season. They’ll have another stiff test next week against Baylor, but in the meantime, here’s how social media reacted to the Sooners’ win over Iowa State.
