Social media reacts as Iowa Hawkeyes recapture Cy-Hawk Trophy in 2023

Go wild Iowa fans, the Cy-Hawk Trophy is coming back home!

It was certainly a game. There wasn’t a whole lot of offense, not a whole lot of scoring, but it was Iowa football. This game was a true representation of the Hawkeye State, with the namesake school taking home the win. The Hawkeyes defeated the Cyclones, 20-13, in a defensive battle.

Iowa led for much of this game and looked to have the win in hand. Then, it let Iowa State back into the game, making the outcome interesting. Thankfully, Phil Parker’s defense bailed out another miserable offensive performance.

All eyes were on this rivalry game for many different reasons. Besides the fierce rivalry aspect, Iowa is a fan-favorite of Sicko Nation. The Ferentz-led Hawkeyes pretty much have a Rocky-like aura with college football Sickos, making their games must-watch television. Everybody loves to crack jokes and all that while they take care of business in their own special way. It was the same again today.

With the eyes of the college football world on Ames, Iowa, here are the best social media reactions from the 70th edition of the battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy.
