Social media reacts to Armando Bacot’s UNC career ending

North Carolina’s 2023-24 season came to an end Thursday night in the Sweet 16 at the hands of Alabama, falling to the Crimson Tide 89-87. It was a disappointing result for UNC as they had a lead with just over a minute left.

But the Crimson Tide made a run behind the play of transfer Grant Nelson and earned their spot in the Elite Eight.

With the loss, it not only ended UNC’s season but also the career of center Armando Bacot. The fifth-year center played in his final game for the Tar Heels scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for another record double-double. Bacot is a true Tar Heel, leaving it all on the court for a program that he would ‘die for’ in his own words.

Bacot spent five seasons with the program, opting to use his COVID year to make another run in the NCAA Tournament. Although UNC came up short, Bacot left a historic career behind and will go down as one of the all-time greats in program history.

Following the game, fans took to social media to thank Bacot for his time at UNC and what he gave to the program.
