Smithsburg's Rileigh Romberger leads the first All-Washington County Girls Wrestling Team
Here are the selections for The Herald-Mail’s inaugural All-Washington County Girls Wrestling Team.
For the second straight year, there was a girls division at the county championships, and for the fourth year, Maryland public-school teams competed in girls region and state tournaments.
Rileigh Romberger, Smithsburg
Wrestler of the Year
Romberger, a freshman, was the runner-up at 115 pounds at the state tournament, where she went 4-1 with three pins. She placed first in the county, second in the 2A-1A West region and led the county in victories with her 23-4 record.
JB Bryant, Boonsboro
Bryant, a sophomore, was the county champ and 2A-1A West region runner-up at 105 pounds, going 21-5 for the season.
2023-24 wrestling: Final Washington County individual records
Morgan Cook, Boonsboro
Cook, a junior, went 18-8 for the season and won the 2A-1A West region title at 120 pounds.
Bella Cox, Smithsburg
Cox, a sophomore, placed first in the county and third in the 2A-1A West region at 125 pounds, going 13-10 for the season.
Emmie Mentzer, Smithsburg
Mentzer, a freshman, was the 2A-1A West region runner-up at 110 pounds, compiling a 13-10 season record.
Amelia Mikus, Boonsboro
Mikus, a senior, won county and 2A-1A West titles at 135 pounds before finishing fifth at states. She led the county in win percentage with her 18-3 record (.857).
Adriana Moss, Boonsboro
Moss, a junior, won county and 2A-1A West titles at 145 pounds, going 16-4 for the season.
Grace Reynolds, South Hagerstown
Reynolds, a junior, won county and 4A-3A West titles at 110 pounds.
Olivia Topham, Saint James
Topham, a senior, won two-thirds of her matches, going 8-4 as a contributor in the Saints’ lineup at 120 pounds.
Finley Ungurean, South Hagerstown
Ungurean, a senior, placed first in the county and second in 4A-3A West at 120 pounds.
