Sixers’ Tyrese Maxey draws praise from former teammate Seth Curry

NEW YORK–The Philadelphia 76ers were able to finish off the Brooklyn Nets in a sweep on Saturday afternoon at Barclays Center despite not having Joel Embiid due to injury.

It was a solid series for everyone involved for the Sixers, but Tyrese Maxey stands out for Philadelphia. For the series, Maxey averaged 21.8 points to lead Philadelphia and he shot 15-for-30 from deep as he continues to become an elite 3-point shooter.

Former teammate Seth Curry, now with the Nets, knows a thing or two about shooting the ball. He was a terrific shooter for Philadelphia during his time with the Sixers and he has been a great shooter throughout his career.

The shooting is what Curry pointed out when discussing his former teammate with the Sixers.

“Obviously, shooting the ball,” said Curry. “He’s a knockdown shooter now. So that allows him to just be more aggressive using his speed and attacking the basket which he’s always been good at, but he found a great role just being aggressive and scoring the ball. He’s getting better and taking advantage of his opportunities.”

Curry is right about being a knockdown shooter. On the season, Maxey shot 43.4% from deep and that shooting continued in the playoffs. The Sixers now have to hope that it can continue into the Eastern Conference semifinals.
