Sixers to open up 2021 summer league play August 9 vs. Mavericks
After taking a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NBA Summer League is set to return. The event will take place from Aug. 8 through Aug, 17 and it will offer the league’s young players more opportunities to continue to develop.
The Philadelphia 76ers will send a team out to Las Vegas and it will most likely be led by Tyrese Maxey, Isaiah Joe, and Paul Reed who missed out on summer league after they were selected in the 2020 draft. Maxey was able to get some court time to develop, but Joe and Reed could use more time out on the floor so the summer league will do them some good.
The summer Sixers will open up on Aug. 9 against the Dallas Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. EDT.

After that, they will take on the Atlanta Hawks, the Boston Celtics, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The two teams with the best records after four games will play for the title on Aug. 17.

This will be good for Maxey, Joe, and Reed to continue to develop their games. Maxey is already an integral part of the rotation while a guy like Joe could be relied upon more depending on the free agency of Furkan Korkmaz. Reed also figures to see more time as well.
