Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey addresses officiating in loss to Wizards

There was a lot that went wrong for the Philadelphia 76ers in Monday’s 117-98 loss to the Washington Wizards. They had issues getting into their offense, they could not get any stops on the defensive end, and they were not able to conjure up any energy.

All of that results in a loss and it also seemed like they let the officiating get in their head to compound all of that.

Philadelphia was called for 26 personal fouls compared to 18 for Washington and they were not happy about it. Tobias Harris ended up fouling out, Joel Embiid had four fouls, and Andre Drummond had five off the bench.

On top of that, Drummond was called for a technical foul, and Rivers was also called for a tech. It seemed that the officiating was a bit of an issue in this one for the Sixers.

“We gotta fight through officials, man,” said Tyrese Maxey. “Whatever they call, they call it, and you gotta move on. We don’t have to like it, but we gotta respect it. At the end of the day, you just gotta move on. It is what it is. They make good calls and they miss calls sometimes and they’re human. I can’t fault them for that.”

The Sixers will now have to bounce back when they return home to host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.
