Six area players named to North Dakota Division B all-state basketball teams

Mar. 19—GRAND FORKS — Six area players were selected to the North Dakota Division B all-state boys and girls basketball teams, which were released Tuesday afternoon by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

For the girls, May-Port-C-G's Rylee Satrom, who was named a Miss Basketball finalist on Monday, was a unanimous choice for the first team. She was an all-state second-team choice last year.

Satrom, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, averaged 20.6 points, 2.4 assists and 4.3 steals per game entering the state tournament, where the Patriots won a state championship.

Two area girls were selected to the second team: Langdon-Edmore-Munich's Cora Badding and Hatton-Northwood's Kennison Azure.

Badding, a 6-1 senior forward, averaged 18 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Azure, a 5-11 junior forward who was injured and missed the postseason for the Thunder, averaged 18.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game.

For the boys, North Star's Dane Hagler, who was named a Mr. Basketball finalist on Monday, was a first-team selection.

Hagler, a 6-5 senior guard who scored more than 2,000 career points at North Star, averaged 21.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game entering the state tournament, where the Bearcats finished runner-up to Westhope-Newburg.

Two area boys were selected to the all-state second team: Cavalier's Talan Devine and Midway-Minto's Riley Robinson.

Devine, a 6-3 senior forward, averaged 22.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

Robinson, a 5-11 senior guard, averaged 23.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game.

For the girls, other all-state first team choices include Maya Vibeto of Our Redeemer's, Mataeya Mathern of Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier, Laela Jensen of Hettinger-Scranton and Raegen Honeyman of Bowman County.

Mathern, who was a second-team choice last season, is committed to UND.

Other girls second-team picks are Karliegh Kadoun of Sargent County, Teagan Erbele of Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter and Jaci Fischer of Bowman County.

For the boys, other first-team picks are Bohden Duffield of Bowman County, Walker Braaten of Westhope-Newburg, Max Musland of LaMoure-Litchville-Marion and Javin Friesz of Flasher.

Other second-team boys selections include Bishop Duffield of Bowman County, Ramsey Walz of Bishop Ryan, Raeshaun Earl of Hankinson, Kai Thomas of Williston Trinity Christian and Jett Lundeen of Bishop Ryan.
