Shields, Bostick voted The Huntsville Item Players of the Week

Oct. 25—HUNTSVILLE — After an online poll, New Waverly's Jude Shields and Addison Bostick have been voted The Huntsville Item Players of the Week, presented by Pizza Hut.

Shields is an offensive and defensive lineman for the Bulldogs but has been a do-it-all all guy. Shields is one of the leaders of the Bulldogs' young roster as a senior leader and helped them clinch their third win of the season.

The senior rallied for an eight-yard touchdown reception for the Dogs. He had six pancake blocks and allowed zero quarterback pressures on offense. His defensive skills mirrored. Shields had 11 tackles, three sacks, two TFLs and a fumble recovery to help the Dogs on defense.

Other nominees were Huntsville's KeDarian Easley and Alpha Omega Academy's Lukas Collier.

New Waverly's freshman Addison Bostick was voted The Huntsville Item Volleyball Player of the Week after an outstanding performance.

Bostick has been a standout all season for the Lady Dogs on the court and has helped get them to a playoff spot.

The freshman had 26 kills and 45 digs in two games last week as New Waverly grabbed the fourth seed in District 23, 3A.

Other nominees were Huntsville's Chelsea Butler and Alpha Omega Academy's Maddie Wallace.
