Sheridan headlines area selections for SE District Football

The three Perry County Schools had several players recognized on the All-Southeast District squad.

The team was selected by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association members within the district, but the Times Recorder does not have a vote for this squad.

In Division IV, Sheridan was represented on both sides of the ball with senior wide receiver AJ Winders, senior quarterback Caden Sheridan and senior lineman Cole Davis on the offense, and senior defensive back Justin Munyan and junior linebacker Shawn Griffey on defense. Junior lineman Jack Robinette was special mention.

Davis was also tabbed the Division IV lineman of the year after anchoring both sides of the line, who also had 30 tackles and two sacks on defense. Winders had 39 catches for 694 yards with seven TDs; Sheridan had more than 2,000 yards of offense and accounted for 26 TDs, including 1,555 yards passing with 16 TDs and 487 yards and 10 TDs on the ground; Munyan had 45 tackles and three interceptions, along with nearly 700 yards and 11 TDs as a running back; and Griffey had 50 tackles with three for a loss, two sacks and two pass breakups.

New Lexington's Bentley Hanson, left, Chase Dumolt and Elijah Stephens swarm Coshocton's Israel Rice during the second quarter of a regular season contest. Hanson and Dumolt were Division V first-team selections in the Southeast District.
