Shelbyville whips Wilson Central 42-8

Sep. 20—GLADEVILLE — Shelbyville came to the Rock last Friday night and handed host Wilson Central a 42-8 defeat.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the Golden Eagles put up two touchdowns in each of the final three stanzas as they improved to 4-1 at midseason. All of the scoring came on runs with the exception of a 98-yard kick return by Bron Ransom to open the second half. Rao Keyrean Chandler scored three second-half touchdowns covering 21, 40 and 44 yards. Earlier, quarterback Nathaniel Delaughter scored on a 6-yard run and Robert Bailey struck paydirt on a 31-yard scamper.

"They're probably going to end up winning the region," Wildcats coach Ben Kuhn said of the Golden Eagles. "They'll probably be 9-1 when it's all said and done. They're a good football team.

"It didn't help we played our worst game we have the entire season. That was frustrating. We knew they were going to cause us fits. Hands down, they're a good football team."

Central averted a shutout in the fourth quarter on a 28-yard touchdown run by Chaz Martin, who then ran in the two-point conversion. Martin led the Wildcats with 91 yards on nine carries while Antuan McKethan had 20 rushes for 82 yards.

Wilson Central slipped to 3-2 with its second straight loss with a visit from region and county rival Mt. Juliet coming up at 7 p.m. Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
