See which Cincinnati girls lacrosse players earned all-state and all-region honors

The Ohio High School Girls Lacrosse Coaches Association released its all-state and all-region teams this week.

Sycamore's Carly Thiel was the only local player named first-team all-state in Division I. Thiel scored 121 goals as the Aviators reached the state semifinals. She was named midfielder of the year in Region 4.

Three Sycamore teammates were named second-team all-state: Goalie Aoife Black, defender Emmie Bennett and midfielder Laney Simons. Simons scored 100 goals this season. Black manned the net for a defense that allowed five goals or less 12 times this season, including three times in the postseason.

Black was the Region 4 goalkeeper of the year as well.

Mason attack Lyla Glinski was also named second team all-state in Division I. She was third in the GMC with 95 goals this season for Mason, which finished 1606.

In Division 2, three members of Indian Hill’s state semifinalist team were named to the All-Ohio first team. They are attack Emily Eckert, midfielder Lexi Larsen and goalie Reese Tuttle. Eckert scored 57 goals and Larsen 63. They combined for 48 assists.

Indian Hill had a second-team selection in defender Ninah Foad.

Also named to the first team were Mariemont teammates Caroline Soller and Piper George. George had 80 goals and 36 assists, and Soller had 71 goals. They were both named players of the year at their positions in Region 8, with Soller winning for midfield and George attack.

Amanda Hurry, a defender from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, also made the first team.

Turpin goalie Maho Ito was named to the first team and was seleected as the goalkeeper of the year in Ohio, as well as the keeper of the year in Region 8.

Also named second team all-Ohio in Division 2 were Grace Bevington (Ursuline), Kate Hooper (Turpin), Macy Lashells (CHCA) and Megan Muller (Mariemont).

Who won all-region awards in Division I?

Sycamore led the Region 4 awards. Black, Bennet, Simons and Thiel were all named first team all-region. Jordana Ronis-Tobin, Paige Harris and Tess Geiger were named second team. Kelsey Heaton and Anna Niehaus were honorable mention.

Sycamore’s Ed Clark was named Region 4 coach of the year.

Mason had seven players named first team all-region. In addition to Glinski, they were Ava Mahoney, Avery Tavella, Claire Baenzinger, Ella Shemak, Lexi Allen and Peyton Flynn.

Anderson had two honorable mention selections in Aidan Layton and Annie Steinher.

Kings had three second-team selections in Kenzie Beck, Samantha Drew and McKailyn Schuckman. The Knights had two honorable mention picks: Marin Bode and Grace Sims.

Lakota East had three second-team picks in Avery Butts, Allison Davis and Poppy Wallbank.

Lakota West had a second-team pick in Anna Wells.

Lebanon had a second-team pick in Jada Seuberling.

Little Miami had two honorable-metion picks in Nicole Patton and Marissa Trickey.

Loveland’s Alex Nunn was first team attack. Allie Despotakis and Amelia Macura made the second team. Abby Arellano and Elly Steinbrunner were honorable mention.

Milford keeper Emma Schaefer was second team. Zara Brown and Campbell Robinson were honorable mention.

Mount Notre Dame’s Lucy Sander was second team. Rachel Benne and Kira Blomeke were honorable mention.

Oak Hills’ Madison Coster and Anna Machioni were honorable mention.

Seton attack Faith Sellet was second team.

St. Ursula had one first-team selection in Sophie Canter. Avery Finley and Brynna Hall were second team. Sadie Nugent and Tierney Stautberg were honorable mention.

Walnut Hills had three first-team all-region picks in Tyler Bowers, Gabrielle Nelson and Carea Tuck. Amelia Cline and Marie Flessa were honorable mention.

Who won all-region honors in Division II?

Indian Hill, a Division II state semifinalist, had nine all-region selections.

Eckert, Larsen, Foad and Tuttle were all first-team selections along with Lexi Heidel.

Samantha Kayne and Cassie Larsen were second team. Lauren Eckert and Jessi Robinson were honorable mention.

Sam Herman was named Region 8 coach of the year.

For Mariemont, Soller and George were first team all-region with Muller.

Second-team picks were Sarah Comer, Jane Muller, Cece Kuwatch and Brynna O’Brien.  Laurel Black and Lucy Lysaght were honorable mention.

CHCA had three first-team picks in Hurry, Lashells and Kierstin Hillis. Lucy Snyder was second team. Megumi Agerto and Jenna Mallaley were honorable mention.

Turpin had three first-team picks in Hooper, Ito and Ellen Benintendi. Turpin had two second-teamers in Josie Carrelli and Meg Cosgrove, and two honorable-mention selections in Avery Ackel and Taylor Denning.

McNicholas had two honorable mention selections in Katherine Baillie and Audrey Beverly.

Fenwick’s Cara Bush was second team all-region. Liz Hayn and Heidi Willenbrink were honorable mention.

Alexis Denman of Mercy McAuley was a second team pick.

Roger Bacon had two honorable-mention picks in Lily Middendorf and Gracie Smart.

Seven Hills had two second-team selections in Biz Kohnen and Anna Papakirk, and two honorable-mention picks in Quincy Morris and Sophie Wiles.

Ursuline had three first-team picks in Bevington, Bieber and Katie Guttman, plus a second-team pick in Harper Hodgett.

Wyoming had one first-team selection in Kearston Jackson, plus three second-teamers in Riya Jain, Roxy Sorensen and Sophia Wilhelm.
