Seahawks injury updates: Who’s sitting out for first preseason game?

The Seahawks are facing the Vikings this evening in their first preseason game of the 2023 campaign. Unlike during the regular season, teams are not required to share injury reports throughout the week during the preseason. So, we don’t have any official word on who’s playing and who’s not in tonight’s game against Minnesota.

However, we do have the word of head coach Pete Carroll, who updated the media on several injured players during yesterday’s session. Here’s who fans should not expect to see on the field tonight and what they’re dealing with.

Definitely out

CB Devon Witherspoon – hamstring
RB Ken Walker – groin
RB Kenny McIntosh – knee
OLB Darrell Taylor – shoulder
S Joey Blount – back
WR Dareke Young – hip/groin
LB Vi Jones – ankle
SS Jamal Adams – PUP list (quad)
LB Jordyn Brooks – PUP list (ACL)
NT Bryan Mone – PUP list (ACL)

Probably sitting

In addition to those players who are definitely ruled out, the following players are unlikely to participate just because they’re either too important to risk injury or are dealing with some minor issue.

QB Geno Smith
WR DK Metcalf
WR Tyler Lockett
OLB Uchenna Nwosu
LB Bobby Wagner
FS Quandre Diggs
CB Riq Woolen (knee)
DE Dre’Mont Jones (toe)
