Seacoast roundup: Winnacunnet boys soccer holds off Bedford; PHS girls improve to 8-2

HAMPTON - Owen Janetos and Miles Pratt each scored a goal as the Winnacunnet High School boys soccer team beat Bedford, 2-1, on Monday in a Division I match.

Winnacunnet is now 6-3-2 on the season, while Bedford is 8-4.

Bryce Molnar and Zane Lepere both had an assist in the win. Nate Kelley, Tim Kollmorgen and Ryan Zumbach all had strong games for the Warriors, while goalie Tyler Blank had seven saves.

BOYS SOCCER

Hopkinton 2

St. Thomas Aquinas 1, OT

HOPKINTON - Owen Simas, assisted by Luke Daly, scored the lone STA in this Division III match. It was the first loss of the season for STA (8-1). Goalie Jeffrey Luchsinger played well.

Somersworth 3

Pittsfield 2

PITTSFIELD -- Alex Brown scored two goals and Freddie Andrian scored once as the Hilltoppers (2-9) won this Division IV contest.

Andrian had one assist, while Tristian Doyle and Jacob Pincince each had an assist. Naphum Yoder had seven saves in net.

NASHUA - Annie Parker scored with 8 minutes left in regulation on an assist from Sylvia Guarracino in this Division I win for Portsmouth (8-2).

Defensively, Avery Timerman, Morgan Ruhnke and Abby Nersesain shined, and goalie Haley Coombs had six saves.

EXETER - Lauren Roeder scored two goals, and Sophia Nadeau and Mia Albertelli each had one for Exeter (9-1) in this Division I win.

Roeder, Nadeau and Ava Welch all had one assist for the Blue Hawks.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Sophomore Riley Smith scored for Marshwood (4-4) in this Class A South loss.

Junior Tim Anderson had an assist, and junior goalie Lana Emery had five saves.

HINSDALE - Jillian Long had three goals, and Haiden Joe had one for Newmarket (9-0-1) in this Division IV win.

Mairead Moore had two assists for the Mules, and Emma Weick and Paige Sweitzer both had one.

DOVER - Gaby Anderson scored three goals, and Giana Leonardi had two for Dover (11-0-1) in this Division I win.

Erin Lynch, Hannah Fitzgerald and Hannah Deroy all had one goal for the Green Wave. Audrey Carter had two assists and Lynch had one. Goalie Katie Everest earned the shutout.

SALEM - Hayden Adams and Emerson Parish each scored a goal for Winnacunnet (7-4-1) in this Division I win.

Jordan Hurrell and Jen Frost both had an assist for the Warriors.

EXETER - Elsa Bishop scored two goals and Dani Caron had one for Exeter (8-4) in this Division I win.

NEW IPSWICH - Kadence Law, assisted by Lacey Clark, scored for STA in this Division III loss. St. Thomas goalie Kensley Harris had 21 saves.

Oyster River 3

Portsmouth 1

DURHAM - Irie Weinstein scored an unassisted goal in the second quarter for Portsmouth (7-4-1) in this Division II loss. Sam Ruel also played well, and goalie Reese McCauley had 16 saves.

GOLF

Exeter places first in three-team match

EXETER - Jascha Johnston shot a 1-over-par 36 to lead Exeter to this Division I win at Exeter Country Club.

Exeter had a team score of 195, while Dover had a 196 and Nashua South (218) was third.

Chad Watson and Brady Smith both shot a 38 for the Blue Hawks, while Connor Jaworkski had a 41, and Braeden Gwinn had a 42.

For Dover, Dover's Carys Fennessy, Gavin Bernard and Jon Dumais all shot a 38, Tyler Buchanan shot 39 and Logan Carter shot 43.

Portsmouth finishes second in four-team match

PORTSMOUTH - Grey Gagnon shot a 1-over-par 37, while Turner Leduc shot 39, Shea Harrison 41, Cal Rothstein 42 and Grant Haberstroh 43 helped Portsmouth to this second-place finish at Portsmouth Country Club.

Oyster River had a team score of 194, while Portsmouth (202), Trinity (228) and Kennett (228) placed second through third, respectively.

VOLLEYBALL

DOVER - Alaina Hathaway had eight kills, Camila Garcia had 23 assists and Gabby Puertas had 24 digs as St. Thomas Aquinas won this Division II match in three sets, 25-22, 25-23, 25-18.

DOVER - Heidi Geyer had seven kills and three aces, Quinn Arico had six kills and six aces and Kailey Holt had 15 assists and three aces to lead PCA (7-3) to this Division III win.
