Seacoast roundup: Rennie, Thompson each net 2 goals as Winnacunnet blanks Portsmouth

EXETER - Four players scored as the Winnacunnet High School boys hockey team celebrated Senior Night with a 4-0 win over Portsmouth/Newmarket on Saturday in a Division II contest at Phillips Exeter Academy.

Nolan Rennie and Brady Thompson each had two goals for the Warriors, while DJ Sciacca and Drew Marelli both had one.

Winnacunnet is now 12-2 on the season, while Portsmouth/Newmarket is 3-10-1.

Alex Santora had two assists for Winnacunnet, and Ian McCormick, Sciacca, Brayden Emery, Brock Emerey, Alec Mitchell and Cayden Dion all had one.

Senior goalie Owen Helton had seven saves, earning the shutout; counterpart Will Clark had 56 saves.

BOYS HOCKEY

Spaulding 7

St. Thomas Aquinas 2

DOVER – Cole Enman and Owen Nesbitt each had two goals, and Leighton Ducharme, Trevor Brennan and Anthony Allen all had one for Spaulding in this Division II win at Dover Ice Arena.

Ryan Dube had three assists for the Red Raiders, and Nesbitt, Owen Jean, Jackson Shapleigh and Wil Godbout all had two, and Enman and Drew Tremblay both had one.

Thomas Edgerly and Jackson Estes each scored for the Saints.

Exeter 3

CANTON, Mass. - Cam Keaveney had two goals and one assist for Exeter in this non-league contest at the Canton Sportsplex.

West Vaillant had one goal and two assists for the Blue Hawks, while Brady Smith and Chase Barbour both had one.

York 4

Kennebunk 0

DOVER - Jim Neal, Brad Carr, Mclean Douris and Jordan Caracoglia all scored a goal for York in this Class B South game at Dover Ice Arena. For Caracoglia, it was his first high school goal.

York goalie Aidan McQuaide had 20 saves

BRIDGTON, Maine - The Knighthawks scored six goals in the second period and skated off with this Class A win to improve to 8-7 on the season.

Ayden Lockard had four goals and one assist in the win. He is now tied for first in goals (17) in Maine Class A hockey. Marshwood goalie Ben Ott had 18 saves.

Emmett Hammond had two goals in the win, while teammates Shane Cullitty, Bradley Wentworth, Ben Thyng and Zac Camp all had one.

CONCORD – Juliana Grella had two goals, leading STA/Winnacunnet/Dover to this Division I win at Everett Arena.

Bizzy Pelletier and Olivia Hobbs also scored for the Saints, who got assists from Delaney Riley andElise Frenette.

Kensley Harris had 22 saves, earning the win.

Oyster River/Portsmouth 4

Lebanon/Kearsage 0

WEST LEBANON - Sienna Metcalf had two goals, while Eliza Farwell and Sage Bussiere both had one for Oyster River/Portsmouth in this Division I game at Campion Arena.

Oyster River/Portsmouth goalie Prudence Bellmare earned the shutout.

Pinkerton Academy 8

Exeter 3

EXETER - Maddie Mann scored all three of Exeter's goals in this Division I contest at The Rinks at Exeter. Exeter goalie Maria Monge had 23 saves.

Marshwood fourth at SMAA championships

BRIDGTON, Maine – Hadley Prewitt placed first with a combined time of 1:31.59 at the SMAA giant slalom championships at Pleasant Mountain Ski Area.

Marshwood placed fourth in the six-team event with 66 points. Falmouth (14), Kennebunk (52) and Gorham (59) placed first through third, respectively.

Other Marshwood skiers included Olivia Drake (11th, 2:01.39), Sarah McClellan (25th, 2:11.98) and Rowan Waddell (29th, 2:23.43).

BRIDGTON, Maine – The Hawks had three skiers place in top 20, and placed fifth in the SMAA giant slalom championships at Pleasant Mountain Ski Area.

adley Prewitt placed first with a combined time of 1:31.59 at the SMAA giant slalom championships at Pleasant Mountain Ski Area.

Marshwood had a team score of 79, trailing Falmouth (15), Kennebunk (36), Cheverus (59), and Windham (67).

Marshwood skiers included Reid Chamberlain (15th, 1:55.74), Caleb Boyle (18th, 2:00.76), Colin Yager (19th, 2:02.50) and Andrew Layton (27th, 2:13.0).
