Seacoast roundup: Portsmouth's Jenkins places in top three in three events at Maine invite

GORHAM, Maine – Portsmouth High School senior Lily Jenkins placed in the top three in three events at Saturday’s New Year’s Invitational at the University of Southern Maine.

Jenkins placed first in the 400 meters (62.29 seconds), second in the 200 (26.64) and third in the 55 (7.52).

Other highlights for Portsmouth came from Sarah Sokolnicki (400, 10th, 66.59), Maria Akalonu (shot put, 11th, 28 feet, 5.6 inches) and Chloe Carter (mile, 16th, 5:58.59).

Winnacunnet’s Hayden Adams was fifth in the pentathlon.

In the boys meet, Portsmouth’s Josh Kelly was fourth in the 55 hurdles (8.6), Theo Beattie was fifth in the 400 (53.84) , and Nolan Peters was sixth in the mile (4:39.41).

Winnacunnet’s Oliver Duffy placed second in the pentathlon and Ryan Jamison was eighth.

Spaulding track competes at 12-team invite

PLYMOUTH - Spaulding's Caitlyn Boston was first in both the 55 hurdles (10.64) and 600 (1:58.05) in a 12-team meet Saturday a Plymouth State University.

Spaulding's Kaitlyn Tallman was first in the 55 (7.89) and third in the long jump (14-9.5), while teammate Devin Peterson-Matos was second in the 55 hurdles (10.82).

In the boys meet, Spaulding's Eli Benjamin was second in the long jump (18-10.25) and third in the high jump (5-6). Teammates Matt Scamman (fourth, long jump, 18-3), Trevor Cormier (sixth, 600, 1:38.33) and Isaiah Walker (ninth, 55, 7.15) all shined.
