SB Cubs winding down season with second-to-last homestand

Midwest League West Division leader Cedar Rapids comes to town this week as the South Bend Cubs host the Kernels in High A minor league baseball at Four Winds Field beginning Tuesday.

The Cubs, a Chicago Cubs affiliate, are 19-28 after losing five of six games to Midwest League East Division leader West Michigan last week. Cedar Rapids, a Minnesota Twins affiliate, comes in with a 31-17 record. The Cubs are 11.5 games behind the Kernels and 7.5 games out of a possible playoff spot with just 18 games remaining.

Outfielder Ezequiel Pagan is batting .309 for the Cubs. Kevin Alcantara has 50 runs and 49 RBIs. Felix Stevens has smacked 10 homers and Fabian Pertuz has 14 stolen bases.

All homestand games take place at Four Winds Field, 501 W. South Street, South Bend. Tickets can be purchased online at SouthBendCubs.com or by calling the Box Office at 574-235-9988. The box office is open during the week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekend game days until the seventh inning.

Tuesday's game (7:05 p.m.) is Tail Waggin and Triple Play Tuesday. Fans can bring their dog to the park. Special ticket offer is a game ticket, hot dog and 24-ounce fountain drink for $13. Those tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance.

Wednesday (7:05) is Championship Pint Glass Giveaway. The first 1,000 fans 18-and-older will receive a championship glass, commemorating the Cubs 2022 Midwest League title.

On Thirsty Thursday (7:05) fans can enjoy $2 fountain drinks and 16-ounce domestic draft beer. It is also Throwback Thursday as the Cubs turn back into the South Bend SilverHawks.

Friday (7:05) will include post-game fireworks.

It is then Spin to Win Saturday (7:05) when nine contestants will spin a wheel for prizes. There will also be post-game fireworks.

Sunday (2:05) there will be a pre-game autugraph session with players and fans will have a chance to play catch on the field prior to the game. It is also Los Cobrito Maldichos Day (COPA) to honor and celebrate the tenacity of Latino players and the Latino community.
