SATURDAY'S BOYS' BASKETBALL MATCHUPS

Lighthouse Christian (11-5) at New Washington (3-11)

GAME TIME: 2:30 p.m.

COACHES: Jeff Mills, 11-5 in 1st year at Lighthouse. Kyle Brown, 12-26 in 2nd year at New Washington.

LAST OUTING: Lighthouse at Providence Cristo Rey, Friday. New Washington at Switzerland County, Friday.

SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: No meetings.

OUTLOOK: After a trip to Indianapolis, a two-hour bus trip to outside of Jeffersonville awaits. New Washington is led by junior guard Matthew Arthur (21 ppg, 5 rpg). It's a young lineup with mostly sophomores and freshmen on the floor. The Mustangs had dropped eight of their last nine heading into Friday's game with the offense picking up a bit the last three outings.

Bloomington North (12-3) at Columbus East (2-11)

GAME TIME: 7:30 p.m.

COACHES: Jason Speer, 63-39 in 5th year at Bloomington North, 178-87 in 12th year overall. Brent Chitty, 122-141 in 12th year at Columbus East, 308-299 in 28th year overall.

LAST OUTING: Bloomington North defeated Terre Haute South, 67-44. Columbus East at East Central, Friday.

SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: Bloomington North, 28-13.

LAST MEETING: Bloomington North, 59-41, March 5, 2021, sectional.

OUTLOOK: One-game weekend for the Cougars, who face a team that offense has been hard to come by at just 42.6 ppg. But the Olympians have also kept their last 10 foes under 60. Their only win since Dec. 3 was a 51-31 victory over Mooresville. Julius Dailey had 18 in the win but did not play vs. South as Ben Sylva and Will Rieckers led CE in scoring. Sylva had 21 in the loss to Seymour.

Bloomington South (11-5) at Silver Creek (6-7)

GAME TIME: 7:30 p.m.

COACHES: J.R. Holmes, 729-231 in 40th year at Bloomington South, 872-349 in 52nd year overall. Brandon Hoffman, 207-80 in 12th year at Silver Creek.

LAST OUTING: Bloomington South vs. Terre Haute South, Friday. Silver Creek vs. Madison, Friday.

SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: Bloomington South, 5-0.

LAST MEETING: Bloomington South, 42-41, Jan. 30, 2021.

OUTLOOK: South faces another long bus ride. Graduation did a number on Silver Creek, which still retains point guard Branden Northern (26.9 ppg). He has six 30-plus point games with a high of 40 against Scottsburg. Senior Zac Stricker adds 10.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg. The Dragons score at a 63 ppg clip but no team has reached 50 on the Panthers this season.

Monrovia (5-9) at Edgewood (7-9)

GAME TIME: 7:30 p.m.

COACHES: Nick Hinojosa, 5-9 in 1st year at Monrovia. Matt Wadsworth, 36-32 in 3rd year at Edgewood, 177-160 in 15th year overall.

LAST OUTING: Monrovia defeated Brown County, 64-40. Edgewood at West Vigo, Friday.

SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: Edgewood, 29-10.

LAST MEETING: Monrovia, 54-45, Jan. 30, 2021.

OUTLOOK: Monrovia has won just two of its last nine, taking down Brown County and Mitchell. Bulldogs are giving up 65 ppg. Offensively, Monrovia has good balance led by guards Todd Camic (12 ppg), Tucker Rahn (11.1 ppg) and 6-8 senior Austin Leeds (12 ppg, 7 rpg).

Sullivan (14-1) at Eastern Greene (3-10)

GAME TIME: 7:30 p.m.

COACHES: Jeff Moore, 482-270 in 32nd year at Sullivan. Jamie Hudson, 22-37 in 3rd year at Eastern Greene, 179-179 in 16th year overall.

LAST OUTING: Sullivan vs. Brown County, Friday. Eastern Greene at Linton, Friday.

SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: Sullivan, 13-7.

LAST MEETING: Sullivan, 76-57, Jan. 30, 2021.

OUTLOOK: Another tough back-to-back weekend for Eastern following Bloomfield-South Knox a week ago. Sullivan's only loss was to Terre Haute North in the Wabash Valley Classic semifinals, 50-48 and the Arrows will likely bring a seven-game win streak into this one. Sullivan has balanced inside-out scoring led by guards Randy Kelley and Rocco Roshel and 6-6 forward Jackson Hills.
