Saturday Seacoast Roundup: Winnacunnet basketball guard sets school indoor track record

DURHAM – Charlotte Koutalidis is a starting guard on the Winnacunnet High School girls basketball team.

On Saturday, the senior competed for the Winnacunnet girls track team and set the school record in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3 minutes, 03.35 seconds in an open state qualifier meet Saturday at the University of New Hampshire.

She placed second in the event, trailing only Alison Hagen of Newmarket, who won in a time of 3:00.33.

"(Koutalidis) is a great athlete that gives her all every time she steps on the track," Winnacunnet track coach Alison Duffy said. "I would expect nothing less from her to give her very best effort every time. She has been running and training some on the side but this was a great time for her and should put her top 5 to 10 in the state."

Koutalidis broke Kylie Quinlan's school record of 3:05.22.

Winnacunnet senior Hayden Adams placed second in the long jump (15 feet, 4.25 inches), was fourth in the 55 hurdles (9.6) and sixth in the high jump (4-6).

Carson Mariotti won the 1,500 (5:13.44) for the Warriors, who placed second in two relays. The 4x160, consisting of Adams, McKinley Fowler, Liana Pacheco and Izzy Needham, finished in 1:32.03, while the 4x400 team of Maitri Clifford, Maeve Ouelette, Hayren Reynoso-Santana and Natalia Goodwin finished in 4:28.07.

Also, Needham was third in the 300 (44.82) and Maitri Clifford was fourth in the 600 (1:49.82).

GIRLS TRACK

Portsmouth’s Nada places in three events 

DURHAM – Portsmouth senior Mariam Nada placed in the top four in three events in an open state qualifier track meet at the University of New Hampshire.

Nada placed first in the 55-meter hurdles (9.21) seconds, was third in the long jump (15 feet, 8 inches) and fourth in the 55 (7.63).

Portsmouth’s 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Avery Timerman, Maddie Houghton, Sylvia Guarracino and Lily Jenkins, placed first in 4:17.53.

Timerman was second in the 300 (44.44), Ella Carter was third in the 600 (1:51.75) and Cloe Carter was third in the 1,500 (5:34.79).

Portsmouth’s 4x160-meter relay team, comprised of Hailey Stallkamp, Ella Carter, Lily Paterson and Nada, placed third in 1:30.6.

BOYS TRACK

Winnacunnet wins three events 

DURHAM – Oliver Duffy and Ryan Zumbach each won an event for Winnacunnet at an open state qualifier track meet Saturday at the University of New Hampshire.

Duffy won the long jump (20-7.25), while Zumbach won the 600 (1:26.97).

Duffy also placed second in the high jump (5-10) and fifth in the 55 hurdles (8.55).

The Warriors’ 4x160 relay team also won as Brady Corcoran, Owen Janetos, Ryan Jamison placed first in 1:16.44.

Other top peformers for Winnacunnet included Jamison (fourth, 55 hurdles, 8.33), Corcoran (fourth, 55, 6.96), Erik Marelli (sixth, 55 hurdles, 8.69) and Janetos (sixth, 55, 7.04).

Winnacunnet’s 4x400 relay team, consisting of Zumbach, Duffy, Harvey Reynoso-Santana and Nick Bonesho, placed fourth (3:54.73).

Portsmouth has four second-place showings 

DURHAM - Portsmouth had second-place performances from Josh Kelly (55 hurdles, 8.47), Theo Beattie (600, 1:29.15), Nolan Peters (1,500, 4:25.06) in an open state qualifier track meet at the University of New Hampshire.

The Portsmouth 4x400 relay team, consisting of Sam Biddle, Will Hart, Kelly and Beattie, placed second in 3:46.52.

Portsmouth’s Deondre McAllister was fourth in the long jump (19-5) and sixth in the 55 (7.12). Also, Ben Bloom was fifth in the high jump (5-6).

BOYS HOCKEY

Goffstown 2

HOOKSETT - Alex Santora had two goals, and Brady Thompson, Nolan Rennie, Alec Mitchell, Brayden Emery and Ian McCormick all had one for Winnacunnet (7-1) in a Division II win at Tri-Town Arena.

Thompson, Mitchell, McCormick, and Matt Clouthier all had two assists for the Warriors, while Nolan Andronaco, Tyler Blank, Rennie, and Emery all had one.

Winnacunnet senior goalie Owen Helton had 27 saves.

Dover 5

Merrimack 4

DOVER - Owen Culcasi had two goals and two assists for Dover (4-3-3) in this Division II contest at Dover Ice Arena.

Caleb Marasca had a goal and two assists for Dover, while Tyler Buchanon and Cam Bourque also scored.

Dover goalie JP Alander had 34 saves.

St. Thomas Aquinas 11

Timberlane 4

SALEM - Jackson Estes had five goals and two assists, and Rolly Edgerly had three goals as St. Thomas Aquinas improved to 4-6 with this Division II win.

Connor Gray added a goal and three assists for the Saints, and George Dannicker and Logan Lemieux each had a goal.

St. Thomas sophomore goalie Zack Pattow had 17 saves, earning the win.

Somersworth/Coe-Brown 5 

ROCHESTER – Braiden Moriarty had two goals and Cole Levesque, Talon Beyer and Liam Eddy all had one for Oyster River in a Division II tie at Rochester Ice Arena.

Tully Keefe had three goals for Somersworth/Coe-Brown, and AJ Kozlowski had two. JR Norris added two assists for the Bearcats, and Giovanni Green, Owen Perra, Matt Bayko, and Kasey Siering all had one.

Portsmouth/Newmarket 5

Monadnock 3

DOVER - Johnny Forest had three goals and Turner Leduc had two for Portsmouth/Newmarket in a Division II game at Dover Ice Arena.

Salem 3

Exeter 2

EXETER - West Vaillant scored both of Exeter's goals in this Division I loss at The Rinks at Exeter.

Eddie Hannan and Brady Smith each had an assist for the Blue Hawks, and goalie Trent Fujitani had 16 saves.

York 5

Cheverus/Yarmouth 2

DOVER - Luke Douris had two goals, and Brandon Briggs, Dylan Jones and Shea Buckley all had one for York in this Class B South match at Dover Ice Arena.

Laird Masterson and McLean Douris both had an assist for the Wildcats, who got 31 saves from Aidan McQuaide.

DOVER - The Saints saw six different goal-scorers in this Division I win at Dover Ice Arena.

Elise Frenette, Christi Trudel, Bizzy Pelletier, Julianna Grella, Delaney Riley, Katie Kontos all scored for the Saints. Pelletier had two assists for the Saints, while Trudel, Brielle Kelly and Aby Parent all had one.

Kensley Harris and Violet Beer shared goal-tending duties for STA/WHS/Dover.

Exeter 4

Bishop Brady/Trinity/Londonderry 1

HOOKSETT - Madison Mann had two goals, and Lilyan Blood had one goal and one assist for Exeter (7-2) in a Division I game at Tri-Town Arena.

Amelia Bonafede also scored for Exeter, which got 10 saves from goalie Maria Monge.

WRESTLING

Spaulding places 10th at invite 

PLAISTOW – Spaulding's Madison Crothers won the girls’ 138-pound weight class at the 18-team Timberlane Invitational.

Spaulding placed 10th as a team. Also in the girls division, Spaulding’s Sadie Nadeau placed second in the 157-pound class.

In the boys division, Jayden Deal (138) and Jackson Morgan (165) both placed fourth, while Noah Jackson (120) and Wesley Chesser (285) were both sixth.

Spaulding wrestling finished 10th out of 18 teams at the Timberlane invitational on Saturday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GRAY, Maine - Class B York fell to 11-2 after this loss at Class A Gray-NG.

Ryan Cummins led York with 16 points, while Derek Parsons and Reece Macdonald both had 12, and Lukas Bouchard had 11 rebounds.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marshwood 81

Noble 33

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Isabelle Tice had a game-high 22 points and added six steals for Marshwood in this Class A South win.

Sarah Theriault added 15 points for the Hawks, while Iza McKean had eight. Ashley Merchant led Noble with 15 points.

GIRLS ALPINE SKIING

Marshwood’s Prewitt wins slalom race 

BRIDGTON, Maine – Marshwood’s Hadley Prewitt had a combined time of 1 minute, 33.76 seconds and placed first in a giant slalom event at Mount Pleasant Ski Area.

Marshwood placed fourth as a team in the six-team event with 68 points.

Falmouth (15), Kennebunk (48) and Windham (61) placed first through third, respectively.

Other Marshwood skiers included Annika Oberg (16th, 2:07.67), Olivia Drake (17th, 2:07.82) and Lilliana Gennaro (34th, 2:41.06).

BOYS ALPINE SKIING

Marshwood’s Prewitt wins slalom race 

BRIDGTON, Maine – Marshwood’s Quinn Maguire had a combined time of 1 minute, 28.62 seconds and placed first in a giant slalom event at Mount Pleasant Ski Area.

Marshwood placed second as a team in the five-team event with 33 points.

Falmouth won with 14 points, while Kennebunk (71), Cheverus (81) and Windham (90) placed third through fifth, respectively.

Other Marshwood skiers included Reid Chamberlain (eighth, 1:51.69), Lucas Glidden (ninth, 1:53.42) and Caleb Boyle (15th, 2:03.71).

SWIMMING

Dover sweeps three-team meet 

DOVER – The Green Wave won both the boys and girls three-team with Gilford and Spaulding at Dover Indoor Pool.

Dover’s Keenan Hill won both the boys 50 (24.77) and 100 freestyles (54.75), and Dover’s Kellie Kasabian won the 200 (2:10.02) and 500 (5:44.14) freestyles.

Other individual boys winners included Aaron Cilley (100 butterfly, 1:01.77), Gavin Gygax (500 freestyle, 6:35.88) and Brody Lee (100 breaststroke, 1:03.53).

Individual girls winners included Rae Walker (200 IM, 2:35.7), Cecilia Lim (100 freestyle, 1:03.85), Marylou Carroll (100 backstroke, 1;08.07), and Izzy Scholosser (100 breaststroke, 1:21.62).
