SARTA Athlete of the Week Oct. 2-7 | Nora Salem, Noah Emmons win the vote
Athletes from GlenOak and Louisville won the voting for the SARTA Athlete of the Week for Oct. 2-7. They did so with by far the most votes cast in the seven weeks of the program.
Nora Salem of GlenOak is the girls winner and Noah Emmons of Louisville wins for the boys.
Salem runs cross country for GlenOak and received 41.20% of a contest-record 10,717 votes cast, nearly triple the previous high. She edged out McKinley volleyball player Robbaniquea Blakely (40.64%). Salem is the first GlenOak athlete to win the honor.
Emmons is the second straight Louisville boys soccer player to win, receiving 31.99% of the boys-record 6,256 votes cast. He edged out Perry cross country runner Connor Reed (30.48%). Emmons is the fourth Louisville athlete overall to win the this fall.
A total of 16,973 votes were cast overall, nearly double the previous high total — 8,942, a week ago.

Nora Salem, GlenOak cross country
She finished third at the Worthington Les Eisenhart Invitational in a personal-record 18:29.55 this past weekend, helping GlenOak win the meet. Salem has broken 19 minutes a couple times this season in top-10 finishes. She's helped GlenOak win three invitationals. She was the Stark County Cross Country Runner of the Week last month, the third straight year she's earned the award.
Noah Emmons, Louisville soccer
He recorded shutouts at goalkeeper for the Leopards in wins over McKinley and Perry, giving him a school-record nine shutouts on the season. He pushed that total to 10 this past Wednesday in a 7-0 win over Dover. He made seven saves in the latest win for the 11-2-3 Leopards.
