Saquon Barkley talks about his future with the NY Giants

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March 2024 after playing this season on a revised franchise tag. At present, it is unclear whether Barkley will continue with the Giants or not. Barkley played in 14 games in the 2023 season and managed to rush for a total of 962 yards and scored six touchdowns.

Despite Barkley facing the unknown and what jersey he will be wearing in the upcoming season, Barkley reflected positively in his past six years in New York.

"I'm incredibly grateful for all the support from the fans, especially the Giants fans," Barkley told USA Today.

Although Barkley doesn't want to say it's the end, he acknowledges that much of what happens is beyond his control. Nevertheless, he expressed his gratitude to the fans who filled MetLife Stadium to cheer on the Giants.

The New York Giants have the opportunity to use a second franchise tag on Barkley for $12.1 million. Barkley has expressed his willingness to discuss his future with the Giants and has previously stated that he “desires to remain a Giant for the rest of his career.”

NFL: Saquon Barkley wants to be a New York Giant for life

Barkley has "a lot left in the tank"

Saquon Barkley has made it clear that this is not the last time you will see him on the field and said that he “has a lot left in the tank.”

“Everything I want to accomplish in my career is still out there and I want to compete,” Barkley tells USA Today. “I want to win Super Bowls and those are goals I want to add to my career hopefully next year.”

Barkley was selected as the second overall pick by the Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, his time in New York has been filled with ups and downs. In 2020, Barkley suffered an ACL injury which caused him to miss most of the season. He struggled to regain his form in 2021. And this season, he also missed three games due to a high ankle sprain.
