What the San Francisco Giants are getting in Alabama baseball commit Bryce Eldridge

Alabama baseball commit Bryce Eldridge was selected by the San Francisco Giants with the 16th pick in the first round of the MLB Draft on Sunday.

While Eldridge is committed to play for the Crimson Tide in 2024, he'll have to decide between Alabama and the Giants as one of the top high school prospects in this year's draft class.

Coming out of James Madison High School in Vienna, Virginia, Eldridge first committed to the Crimson Tide in April of 2020.

The 6-foot-7, 233-pound Eldridge excelled both on the mound and at the plate in high school, throwing a 95 mph fastball as a right-handed pitcher and being named the top first-base prospect in high school baseball by Perfect Game.

Should Eldridge sign professionally, he will forfeit his college eligibility to play in the minor leagues starting this season. If he chooses college, Eldridge will play at least three seasons in Tuscaloosa before he's eligible to be drafted again.
