Salesianum, Middletown, Dover stars earn top honors on All-Class 3A football team

Senior running back B.J. Alleyne is the Offensive Player of the Year and leads four Salesianum players on the All-Class 3A first team released by the Delaware Interscholastic Football Coaches Association on Monday.

Alleyne rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns last Friday as the Sals won their first state football title since 2013 with a 45-17 victory over Cape Henlopen at Delaware Stadium.

Middletown senior defensive end Tristen Graham, who has committed to Syracuse, is the Class 3A Defensive Player of the Year.

Dover’s Mike Stevenson is the Class 3A Lineman of the Year. The junior made the first team at both offensive tackle and defensive tackle.

Ten of the 12 Class 3A teams had at least one first-team selection. The 30 spots were fairly evenly distributed, with Salesianum and Dover taking five each; Appoquinimink earning four; Middletown, Cape Henlopen and Sussex Central getting three each; Smyrna, Hodgson and Saint Mark’s taking two each, and St. Georges earning one.
