Ryan Anderson, Anthony Davis spark Pelicans over Spurs

Anthony Davis scored 22 points and added 12 rebounds, his 16th double-double of the season, to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a victory over the San Antonio Spurs, 97-90. The Pelicans picked up the victory due in large part to their efficiency handling the basketball, accumulating 25 assists and turning it over only eight times. New Orleans (15-14) picked up the win after falling to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.

Davis finished 8-19 and converted 6-6 from the free throw line. He also tallied five blocks and three assists. Other top contributors for New Orleans included Ryan Anderson with 22 points and seven rebounds, and Jrue Holiday with 15 points and seven assists. On 8-9 shooting from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line, Cory Joseph put up 20 points for San Antonio in the loss. Boris Diaw chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

After putting up a sparkling assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.12, the Pelicans are 4-1 on the season when eclipsing 2.50 in this category. However, the Spurs are 0-1 when allowing their opponents to achieve such a lofty ratio.

This drops San Antonio (18-13) to 0-2 against New Orleans on the year.

Coming up, the Pelicans square off against the Chicago Bulls, who are 20-9 on the season. The Spurs match up with the Houston Rockets, currently sitting at 21-7 this year. The Spurs have a 0-1 record against Houston this season.
