Rutgers football recruiting: Ryan Montgomery, a four-star quarterback, gets a Scarlet Knights offer

Ryan Montgomery was offered by Rutgers football this week as one of the nation’s top quarterback prospects continues to rack up Power Five offers.

A class of 2025 quarterback, Montgomery has a strong arm and throws well on the run. According to Rivals, he is a four-star recruit and ranked the No. 89 prospect in the class of 2025. He played for Findlay High School (Findlay, OH) last season.

He holds offers from Cincinnati, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Purdue and Tennessee among others.

A 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect, Montgomery has a prototypical skillset for what Rutgers wants from a quarterback in offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca’s system.

Montgomery tweeted about the offer from Rutgers following his call with the program:

The Rutgers quarterback room is shaping up nicely. Two years ago, the Scarlet Knights landed four-star Gavin Wimsatt out of Owensboro, KY who was ranked the No. 10 dual-threat quarterback in the country. Last year, Rutgers flipped Ajani Sheppard late in the recruiting cycle, securing the top quarterback in New York.

In the 2024 recruiting class, Rutgers already has a commitment from A.J. Surace, a three-star and New Jersey’s top quarterback recruit. Surace, who’s father is the head coach at Princeton, is ranked the No. 8 player in New Jersey by 247Sports. He committed to Rutgers in early February and held offers from Boston College, Duke, Indiana, Michigan State, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Temple and Tennessee among others.
