Rutgers football: John Stone honored by his high school

Despite already being on campus, Rutgers football offensive lineman John Stone was honored by his high school over the weekend.

Stone capped off a tremendous senior season at Washington Township High School (Sewell, N.J.) by being named the school’s top athlete. Stone, who is currently enrolled at Rutgers, participated in spring practice with the football team.

He was on hand over the weekend to receive the ‘Athlete of the Year Award’ from his former high school.

Stone was one of the key first pieces to commit to the Rutgers football as part of the 2023 recruiting class. He was a consensus three-star recruit who was the No. 15 recruit in New Jersey according to 247Sports and ranked No. 16 in the state by ESPN.com.

He also wrestled in high school.

Stone’s integration into the Rutgers squad as an early enrollee has allowed him to get acclimated to the program as well as get involved in the strength and conditioning program.

He currently checks in at 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds.
