Rutgers fall sports off to a solid start
For Rutgers fans, the last few weeks have been full of excitement with fall sports back in action. Football was the latest sport to kick off its season on Sunday as they welcomed Northwestern to SHI Stadium. The Scarlet Knights did not disappoint and beat Northwestern in dominating fashion, holding the Wildcats to one touchdown. However, they are just one team off to a successful start.
After struggling last year, Rutgers volleyball has won five of their first six matches. Heading into play on Thursday, field hockey was also undefeated through the first few weeks of their season.
While the fall season is just starting, the last few weeks have created plenty of excitement in Piscataway. It is just the start of what could be an unforgettable sports season for Scarlet Knights fans.

Men's soccer
Record: 1-2-1
It has been a rough start to the season for the Scarlet Knights, as they only have one win in four games. However, they finally got into the win column on Monday with a 2-0 victory over Saint Peter’s. Luciano Sanchez and Ian Abbey provided the offense with their first goals of the season. The Scarlet Knights are back in action on Saturday when they travel to California to take on UCLA.

Record: 2-2-2
For women’s soccer the first few weeks of the season have been a rollercoaster ride. After winning two of their first four games, the Scarlet Knights tied Princeton on August 31 and lost Georgetown on September 4. On bright spot has been Allison Lowrey who leads the team in scoring with ten points.

Record: 1-0
Gavin Wimsatt led the way in Rutgers’ win offensively in the Rutgers season opener. The Kentucky native had one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown in Rutgers 24-7 victory. While the offense thrived, the Rutgers defense did its part by holding Northwestern to 201 yards of total offense.
Field hockey
Guillermina Causarano tied her previous season-high with her team-leading third goal of the season with this great play to boost #RUFH in a 2-1 win at No. 15 UConn

Record: 4-0
For Rutgers field hockey, the first few weeks have been full of winning. During their 4-0 start, the Scarlet Knights have outscored their opponents 8-2. Guillermo Causarano has led the way offensively with seven points and Sophia Howard has made 17 saves in net.

Record: 5-1
After a forgettable 2022 campaign, Rutgers volleyball has been nearly unstoppable this fall. Their only loss this season came on September 1 against NC State. They will look to continue their winning ways on Friday when they take on Morgan State in the Columbia Tournament.
