Russell Wilson did his homework on Broncos WRs
Before his trade to the Denver Broncos became official, quarterback Russell Wilson watched all of the team’s games from 2021, multiple times.
Wilson even watched preseason games so he could take a look at players like KJ Hamler, who missed most of the regular season on injured reserve.
Wilson studied the film and took note of key performances from his new teammates. During his introductory press conference last week, Wilson referenced specific moments for all four of top Denver’s receivers, including a play from two years ago for Jerry Jeudy.
“I think watching the wideouts and to see these guys, to see Tim Patrick attack the football against the Cowboys. To see Courtland Sutton dive for a go-ball against the Steelers. To see Hamler battle through all of the things he’s been battling with and to know he wants to still get work even though he’s been dinged up and he’s getting back. That’s passion to me. To see him in the preseason game track-down balls has been cool to watch.
“And then you think about Jerry Jeudy. I think he’s a star. A guy that can get open. A guy that can kill guys at the line. Can match up against different guys. Can go attack the ball and snag it off their head — I think it was against the Jets. Different things that he’s been able to do [has been impressive].”
Wilson also praised running back Javonte Williams’ ability to break tackles.
“And then to watching the running back not get tackled — it’s always good when a running back doesn’t get tackled,” Wilson said. “So that was fun. I just like watching guys up front and how they battle. They battle.”
Wilson is already familiar with the skills of his new weapons in Denver and he has already started throwing sessions with his receivers. Training camp practices are going to be must-watch for Broncos fans this summer.
